What to Expect
During your laser hair removal treatment, the treatment area will first be cleansed and any existing hair will be shaved. Then, a cool gel will be applied to the area to protect the skin. The Sciton handpiece, which has a smooth, glass surface, will be applied directly to the skin, passing over the treatment area. A laser emitted by the handpiece will destroy underlying hair follicles as it passes over.
Recovery & Results
You may develop some mild redness or swelling immediately after your treatment, but this usually resolves within the first several hours. Some people develop temporary blistering or pimples during the first few days following treatments. If you develop blistering, simply wait for the blisters to heal and keep the area clean and moisturized.
You should notice treated hairs begin to fall off after about 7 to 14 days. Do not be alarmed if hairs appear to be growing in the meantime. Because the laser can only disable follicles that are in their current growth process, multiple treatments will be necessary to achieve ideal results.
