When a legal advocacy group sued the state Department of Health in February for allegedly running its psychiatric hospitals like prisons and detaining patients long after they have been deemed well enough to leave, Jacqueline Sophia London knew it was time to tell her story.
London said she was once one of Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital’s “prisoners.” And not only did the treatment team delay her discharge, she says it also withheld the key to her long-term mental stability for more than a year.
