Microblading in Dubai

Microblading, also called eyebrow embroidery, is a semi-permanent makeup or tattooing method to enhance the appearance of less dense eyebrows. It involves using a handheld device equipped with fine needles to implant pigment into the superficial layers of the skin, mimicking the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs. These strokes mimic the appearance of natural eyebrow hair, lasting typically 1-2 years, with longevity varying due to factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and sun exposure.

What are the Types of Microblading?

Microblading types or techniques differ based on the length and thickness of the strokes, the pigment used, and the desired shape of the eyebrows.

  • Traditional microblading: This technique uses the standard microblading tool to create hair-like strokes.
  • Nanoblading: Similar to microblading but uses finer needles to create more delicate, natural-looking strokes. The results of Nanoblading typically last longer than microblading.
  • Microshading: It involves creating softer, pixelated strokes that give a powdered effect, unlike the distinct hair-like strokes in traditional microblading.
  • Combo Brows: Combo Brows combine the techniques of microblading and microshading to achieve a balanced look of defined strokes and soft shading.
  • Ombre brows: Ombre brows are characterized by a gradient effect, where the color gradually transitions from lighter at the start of the brow to darker towards the tail.

Why is Microblading Done?

Microblading is usually performed to create the appearance of fuller, more enhanced brows in people with thin or sparse eyebrows. It primarily helps reshape the eyebrows for improved symmetry or aesthetics. It may also help redefine the brow area affected by alopecia or after undergoing chemotherapy.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For Microblading?

Ideal candidates for microblading are those experiencing eyebrow hair loss or thinning, seeking to enhance the fullness and shape of their brows. However, it’s essential that your skin is healthy, free from active infections or dermatological conditions, to safely proceed with the procedure.

Our dermatologists will conduct a comprehensive skin analysis to determine if you are a suitable candidate for microblading.

Your dermatologist may not recommend microblading or ask you to wait for things to get settled if they find any of the following factors to be true in your case:

  • Active skin conditions, including dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, or severe acne, may contraindicate microblading.
  • Sunburn – If you have a sunburn, you may need to wait until it fully heals, typically two weeks, before undergoing microblading.
  • Recent skin treatments – such as chemical peels and laser hair removal
  • Allergies – particularly those caused by the ink used in cosmetic tattooing
  • Use of blood-thinning medications like aspirin or warfarin may require a pause or adjustment before the procedure, as they can affect bleeding and healing.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding are generally considered contraindications for microblading due to potential risks and hormonal changes affecting skin sensitivity and healing.

How is Microblading Performed?

A topical anesthetic is applied to the eyebrow area before the procedure to minimize discomfort and pain. It may take a few minutes for this solution to come into effect.

The procedure begins once the treatment area is sufficiently numbed, ensuring comfort during the microblading process. The practitioner uses a handheld device with fine needles to create fine incisions in the brow area, mimicking the appearance of natural eyebrow hair. The tool’s tip, fitted with ultra-fine needles, implants pigment into the skin with each stroke, simulating the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs.

Microblading is much like traditional tattooing but is not permanent. This is because the microblading tool only targets the epidermis. The pigment is deposited into the upper dermis and is not absorbed deeper into the skin, which differentiates microblading from traditional tattooing.

Due to a certain level of intricacy and manual work involved in creating each stroke the microblading procedure typically takes about one to two hours, depending on the complexity and desired results.

Microblading Recovery

Recovery from microblading typically spans 4-6 weeks, influenced by factors such as age, skin type, and general health. Below is an overview of what to expect during different phases of recovery.

  • The first two days: In the first two days post-procedure, expect some swelling and redness in the eyebrow area.
  • After 3-4 days: Most of the swelling and redness will subside. The brows will be less dark but still too sharp and prominent.
  • After a week: Approximately one week post-procedure, scabbing may occur in the treated area, and it’s important to avoid scratching to prevent scarring or pigment loss. To aid in healing and comfort, your practitioner may recommend a specific ointment for the treated area.
  • After two weeks: The scabs will start to come off now. While recovery is not over, your eyebrows will appear much lighter.
  • After three to four weeks: By three to four weeks, significant healing will have occurred, and the eyebrows will gradually settle into their final shape.
  • After five to six weeks: The recovery duration will likely be over, and your eyebrows will have taken their final shape.
