Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’ve always had a customer service mindset and love doing things for others. Becoming a licensed esthetician was one of the best choices. This career allows you to do so much for others, making people feel beautiful is like magic. I originally sought out in my career with a goal to work in a Med Spa setting or somewhere where I could really help people change the appearance of their skin. I quickly learned that I preferred caring for skin with a more holistic approach. I was born and raised in Sarasota Florida where I grew up going to the beach and spending most of my free time on the water.
My parents owned a local picture framing gallery and my mom is a talented Caribbean-based artist. After moving to Colorado in 2012 I was on the hunt for my dream job in esthetics, I thought I had found it when I started at a quaint little day spa in Evergreen. Little did I know that just a year and a half later I would find my true passion. Waxing was never something I ever thought about in the beginning and it wasn’t super easy for me to pick up. We barely learned waxing in school so I was a bit intimidated at first. I worked for a small family-owned and operated waxing boutique in Denver for two years. Call it fate, call it luck I have no idea but I was given the opportunity to take it over and make it my own! Wild Kitty Waxing was born! We are far from the beach but we strive for that island vacation with a cool calm vibe in all our locations. I can’t and won’t take all the credit though, I work amongst an amazing group of women and couldn’t do this without them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think with anything in life we all go through some rocky times. Working with family is really tough. I have learned that the hard way. Managing a staff is also really challenging and something I never learned and really never wanted to do. It’s something that I will continue to learn and perfect with each new struggle. This industry is very competitive but I believe that the best of the best will survive. I believe in providing the very best service possible without ever sacrificing quality and having genuine care for others is the key to success. Running a successful small business takes a lot of hard work but I will say it gets a little easier getting over each bump.

How do you think about happiness?
My two Golden Retrievers make me the happiest. Dogs are special. They are true gifts from God and I don’t know what I would do without them. The unconditional love that they give is unmatched by anything else I’ve ever experienced. They get me through the tough times for sure.
