7 Ways to Remove Facial Hair

Facial hair has always occupied a contentious place in society. Some cultures treasure it, giving it great religious significance. Its presence or absence becomes a defining feature of gender identity, socioeconomic status, and even hygiene. However, despite its significance, not everyone wants to deal with facial hair.

So, if you need to remove facial hair from your life ASAP, here are seven methods you can use to get rid of it!

1. Waxing

Most women will have at least some experience with this method to remove facial hair. It’s hard to forget the feeling of hot wax getting spread across the hairy bits, then getting ripped away. This method pulls the unwanted hair out. However, it can cause irritation if the removal proves incomplete.

2. Tweezing

Tweezing is the most tedious method of removing facial hair. As the name suggests, you pluck the unnecessary, unwanted hairs out individually or in small groups with a dedicated set of tweezers. This method works best if you’re only getting rid of a few stray hairs.

3. Shaving

The most obvious facial hair remover is, of course, shaving. While learning good shaving techniques takes time, it can give you a clean face for at least the day. However, if your hair grows particularly fast, you can experience regrowth within hours.

4. Depilatory Creams

Depilatory creams are chemical creams that dissolve unwanted facial hair. You have to use them on a wet face for them to work properly. However, some depilatory creams can have harsh chemicals that are dangerous near the eyes and mouth, so make sure to read your warning labels before you apply!

5. Epilators

Epilators are, in essence, a pair of tweezers taken to their maximum potential. These devices pluck the facial hair out at the root but can do so over a large area at once. This is, as you might expect, more painful than tweezing, but with longer-lasting results. You can go up to a month between sessions with these devices.

6. Laser Hair Removal

If you’re tired of weekly facial hair removal and need something more permanent, you might need to bring in the lasers. Laser hair removal targets the hair follicles with a concentrated laser beam, preventing them from growing any further. However, it can take multiple sessions to see any permanent results from this.

7. Prescription Medication

If you’ve tried all other methods to remove facial hair and still can’t ditch it, it might be time to speak to your doctor. There could be a hormonal imbalance or some other genetic issue causing your woes. As such, it may take prescription medication to fix the issue at its source.
