You'll find that there are a wide range of options when it comes to light-based hair removal. All methods will leave your skin looking smooth and hair-free, but do you know the differences between IPL and laser removal?
The Difference Between Laser and IPL Hair Removal
The primary difference between laser and IPL is the type of light that is used in the procedure. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a broadband pulsed light source, whereas laser is a monochromatic coherent light source. Both light methods target the melanin in the hair follicle, and permanent results can be expected from both. The laser treatment method works by narrowly focusing high energy on the individual hair follicle rather than the surrounding skin. Laser will therefore lead to quicker results and be more suitable for clients with darker skin tones. Energy, frequency, and hair color are all determining factors in the efficacy of the treatment, while the light source, whether it is a laser or an intense pulsed flash light, plays only a minor role.

How Does It Work?
Both IPL light and laser impulses are able to reach the root of the hair via the melanin. Stimulating the root in this way has a "damaging" effect after several treatments, leaving the root unable to produce new hair.
