Hudson Valley dentist Dr. Claudia Patch transformed Anastacia Franklin’s smile through the You 2.0 Ultimate Makeover Contest.
Have you ever dreamed of creating your perfect smile?
For Woodstock General & Implant Dentistry, the opportunity to grant a perfect smile to one very deserving Hudson Valley resident was the motivation behind its first You 2.0 Ultimate Makeover Contest. Launched early in 2020, the contest invited individuals in desperate need of dental work in the region to apply for the chance to make over their smile. For Woodstock dentist Dr. Claudia Patch, the contest was the perfect way to give back to the community and change someone’s life.
And that’s precisely what happened for winner Anastacia Franklin.
With a childhood spent partly in foster care while her mother battled drug addiction, Franklin never had the chance to receive the dental care she needed. She rarely visited the dentist until she grew older. By that point, her teeth were in severe need of treatments that were too costly for her to pursue. Not only did the state of her teeth impact her oral health, but it also proved detrimental to her self-confidence overall.
Fortunately, Woodstock General & Implant Dentistry was ready to lend a hand. Since Franklin had a pre-existing bridge, multiple implants, crowns, fillings, and some shaping, Dr. Patch and her team began by removing a few teeth, grafting the area, and adding bone material to regrow bone. By doing this, they created a solid foundation for dental implants, which can last for 20 years or more and function like natural teeth.
After that, Woodstock General & Implant Dentistry partnered with Medical Aesthetics of the Hudson Valley, a contest sponsor, to provide Franklin with the cosmetic treatments she needed. Medical director Dr. Dean Bloch and licensed medical aesthetician Gale Wolfe offered their expertise with complimentary Botox, fillers, laser hair removal, and Kybella, a treatment that reduces unwanted fat under the jaw.
By the time Franklin’s makeover was complete, she felt like a new person. Not only did she exude excitement and confidence, but she also embraced a newfound motivation to follow her dreams. She revealed to the Woodstock General & Implant Dentistry team that she enrolled in school to pursue her dream career and signed up for a CrossFit class to kickstart her weight loss journey. Looking ahead, she also hopes to one day become a foster parent so she can teach children and make sure they have access to the regular health and dental care they need.
At the end of the day, Franklin walked away with not just a new smile, but a new perspective on life. Thanks to Dr. Claudia Patch, Woodstock General & Implant Dentistry, and Medical Aesthetics of the Hudson Valley, she can embrace each new day with a glowing smile and an even brighter future.
