U.S Olympic beach-volleyball teammates have revealed how they stay smooth and hair-free while wearing their tiny bikini bottom uniforms.

Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor, who made headlines over the weekend after they wore long-sleeves instead of bikini tops for their Olympic match against Australia, discuss how they cope with annoying bikini lines while at the same time 'hating' constant waxes.

Ms Walsh Jennings told Allure: 'I hate getting waxed. Waxing makes me want to punch someone in the face. But I don’t want to be self-conscious and worry about my bikini line when I’m playing, so [I use] lasers.'

After female volleyball athletes for the first time in Olympic history were permitted to wear long shorts and tops with sleeves, the pair said they have been bikini devotees from the beginning.

Ms Walsh Jennings said: 'I love our uniforms. You don't want to be wearing big, baggy sports. They get in the way.'

Their long sleeve tops didn't hinder their performance either, winning Saturday against Australia's Nat Cook and Tamsin Hinchley.

Ms Walsh Jennings also revealed to Allure that usually, their bikini tops are padded.

Explaining that while her partner Ms May-Treanorher has never had issues with her chest size, she has contemplated breast implants and currently feels '60-40 against it.'

The pair, who work out together six days a week, also love to joke around.

While discussing other beauty secrets, Ms Walsh Jennings said: 'Sand is a great exfoliator.'

The magazine also features nine other 'alluring athletes,' in its latest issue, including Hope Solo, LoLo Jones, and Serena and Venus Williams.

Ms Solo said it was the 2008 Olympic Games that finally made her proud of her body.

The 31-year-old said: 'Growing up, I felt insecure about my build. I didn't feel very feminine.

'In 2008, I was maybe the fittest I had ever been, and we won the gold medal. I started to see the connection between my body and my accomplishments.'
