Preparation of kit
Keep all the materials needed like wax and wax strips, talcum powder, aloe gel and some ice cubes. Choose the wax carefully. If you have sensitive skin than select the one that is clinically tested and suitable for sensitive skin. Aloe vera based waxes are always a safe bet.
Examine hair length
It is important your hair length should be at least ¼ inch so that the waxing is easier. If the length is lesser and you wax frequently, then there are chances it may irritate your skin and cause ingrown hair.
Track your menstrual cycle
If waxing causes you some amount of pain, then we suggest you do not do it just before your monthly cycle starts. Avoid it during your cycle as well. Wait until your menstruation is done with to wax. This is because your skin is more sensitive to pain during this time and hence may become redder than usual. So finish well before your period or wait until after.
Exfoliation
Even though exfoliation is good for your skin, doing it right before a waxing session is not advisable. It makes your skin sensitive and it can invite allergy, pain and burns. Exfoliate your skin two-three times a week to make your hair soft and expose ingrown hair. This will make waxing easier. Avoid exfoliation one day prior to your waxing session.
Hygiene
The most important thing you should take care of is hygiene. Clean your hands, your skin and the tools before you wax. This is crucial as waxing may lead to small cuts and bruises, which can allow bacteria to get in. Sterilize the waxing spatula or wipe them ckean with an anti-bacterial solution.
Check your skin
Make sure you check for cuts, burns and pimples on your skin before you wax. Avoid waxing on and around those areas as it can cause skin allergies and infections.

You should apply the wax in even strokes in a direction that opposite to the direction of the growth of the hair. If the hair is growing in a haphazard manner, try applying the wax first in one direction, and then another, till you have removed all hair.
Clothing
Wear light, breathable and loose cotton clothes that will cover your body after the waxing session for your skin to heal. Do not wear anything too tight that might be abrasive to the newly-waxed skin.
Skip gym
Working out after waxing is a big no-no as the pores are open and skin is sensitised. The sweat may lead to skin irritations and cause rashes or pigmentation.
