1. New to laser and want to learn more?
Our 3 or 4-day Skin and Laser Applications Course is run in conjunction with Manchester University and includes the Core of Knowledge.
It’s a great course for you to start with to get a good understanding of what you can treat and what lasers you would need to do so, and you will be able to observe and get hands-on experience of a range of Laser and IPL systems. You can optionally stay on for the 4th day of more practical or you could then attend one of our Level 4* courses which are recognised by all insurance companies and provide full comprehensive training. Note that the 3 or 4-day Skin and Laser Applications Course is not a formal qualification. There are no assessments to complete as part of the course, but you will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end.
*Please note for Level 4 courses you do need a minimum of Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualification, or a medical qualification, or Beauty qualification to Level 3.
2. What training do you need to become a laser practitioner?
At the moment the only organisations that effectively “regulate” training are the insurance companies. We have noticed in the last year or so that they are getting stricter on training courses and qualification requirements. As a minimum to get insured you will need:
- The Core of Knowledge
- Training in the subject area (a level 4* qualification is what most insurance companies recognise and are starting to ask for. It’s the most comprehensive course that we run, spanning 7 days and covering hair removal, thread veins, pigmentation and skin rejuvenation.
- We also offer Level 5 which covers tattoo removal
- The 3 or 4 day Skin and Laser Applications Course is another great option for giving you a good overview of what Laser and IPL can do.
- Manufacturer training – you should ideally be trained on your system from the manufacturer or provider of the system. All systems bought or leased through Lynton have this type of training included.
*Please note for Level 4 courses you do need a minimum of Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualification, or a medical qualification, or Beauty qualification to level 3
3. I only want to learn how to laser one condition (i.e hair removal or tattoo removal)?
We offer one-day introduction courses in hair removal, tattoo removal or vascular & pigment conditions.
These courses are a fun and interactive day and should give you a good overview of these treatments.
4. You are using Lynton equipment but you want some update training and more knowledge?
For all our Lynton customers we run clinical update workshops to refresh your knowledge and to help you to keep up to date with the latest technology.
5. Will I receive a qualification or certificate?
If you attend any of our courses you will receive a certificate of attendance. This is often requested by insurance companies as evidence of the training that you have received.
For our Level 4 and 5 courses you will achieve a ‘qualification’ that is easily recognisable by insurance companies and employers.
Be aware that you should attend a Core of Knowledge every 3-5 years, as most insurance companies specify this.
