I was asked by Carusele to participate in the #WalgreensBeautyUnfiltered campaign, sponsored by Walgreens. The opinions and text are all mine.
Sometime in 2017 I became obsessed with having great skin. I think my wedding motivated me to up my skincare game, so since then I’ve spent a ton of money on skincare products, procedures, and experimenting with new serums and products. But since I’m still balling on a budget, one of my 2018 beauty hacks is knowing when to splurge and when to save on beauty products and procedures. Regular facials and microneedling? Splurge. Retinol-based serum? Splurge. Laser hair removal? Ehhh… you can save on that! Here are three beauty products you don’t need to splurge on.
Razors
The hair removal business is a huge one, and with spring and summer around the corner (*fingers crossed*), you might be tempted to look into waxing and laser hair removal services. I’ve tried both waxing and laser hair removal, and I don’t think they are the best use of my beauty money. Razors work equally well to remove underarm and leg hair, and cost way less than waxing or laser hair removal. Although there are a lot of name brand razor companies, I’ve found that Walgreens Beauty Five Blade Disposable Razors work just as well, for so much less! Plus, Walgreens Beauty Razors are BOGO 50% off all March!
Facial Cleanser
You know you’re supposed to wash your face morning AND evening right? Expensive cleansers will tempt you to skip out on a wash session, so save on this aspect of your beauty routine. As long as your cleanser is free of sulfates and parabens, and is non comedogenic (won’t clog your pores), the name brand doesn’t really matter! Yes, some skincare issues require specific cleanser types, but if you have fairly normal skin, Walgreens Beauty Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser will get your makeup off and clean your pores without aggravating your skin… or your wallet.
Facial Mist
If you’re unfamiliar with facial mists, you’re going to LOVE this discovery. Have you ever found yourself in the middle of the day with tight, dry skin or makeup that’s starting to look patchy? A facial mist can fix that! Walgreens Hydrating Facial Mist has the same critical ingredients as more expensive brands – cucumber, rose water, and hyaluronic acid – for a fraction of the price. Spray it before you apply your moisturizer (as a toner), before you do your makeup (as a primer), on your beauty blender, and after you finish your makeup (as a setting spray) for dewy hydrated skin. Since you saved on it, you won’t mind carrying one along to use throughout the day whenever your skin needs a quick pick me up!
You might be surprised that the same woman who is addicted to facials uses Walgreens Beauty products. I’ve done A LOT of research on skincare, and the products that have the most impact on your skin are moisturizers, serums, and sunscreen. For other products, it’s important to use products free from sulfates and parabens, and the new Walgreens Beauty products (formerly Studio 35) are just as high-quality as other name brands. So next time you stop into Walgreens for a greeting card or a pack of gum, swing by the skincare aisle and shop Walgreens Beauty products!
