A great way to relax and relieve stress from a busy schedule is to
visit a day spa and pamper yourself. There’s no need to travel to Beverly
Hills to find soothing mud baths and seaweed treatments, Huntington Beach
has two full day spas of its own.
Euphoria: The Day Spa and Boutique, at the corner of Warner Avenue and
Bolsa Chica Street, offers skin care treatments, full body treatments,
massage therapy, reflexology and waxing. Owner, Crixell Schmidt, is a
skin care therapist who provides services to clients who frequently
request her by name. In business for the past three years, Euphoria has a
strong clientele of regular customers.
Whether you have acne, hypersensitive skin, dry or oily skin,
pigmentation problems, or mature skin, one of the four skin care
therapists at Euphoria can design the perfect treatment to help you look
your best and feel relaxed. Following your treatments, home care products
are suggested to maintain optimum results. Euphoria offers a variety of
skin care treatments and they all include skin analysis, double
cleansing, hand and arm massage with warmed mitts, steam, extractions and
a relaxing face, neck and shoulder massage. Treatments start as low as
$20 for a 15 minute “Quickie Peel” that includes a cleansing, facial
peel, toner, moisturizer and sunscreen. Euphoria even has a double facial
room so you can share a facial with a friend or relative and two people
can enjoy treatments together.
Full body treatments at the Euphoria spa can soothe and restore
balance to your body. Herbal wraps, detoxifying algae treatments,
therapeutic mud body masques and cellulite treatments are just a few of
the spa body treatments that are available.
Holistic massage therapy is another service offered at Euphoria. Their
skilled massage therapists will design the ideal massage for each client
and allow you to experience the healing power of hands. Pregnancy
massages, designed especially for expectant mothers, and deep tissue
massage are some of the specialized massage treatments. Scalp treatments,
foot reflexology and eye treatments are additional indulgences.
Complete body waxing for men and women is also available at Euphoria.
Eyebrow and eyelash tinting are popular as well.
Summer specials that are still in effect at Euphoria include the “3
Peel” facial that is an Epicuren facial treatment for an introductory
price of $80, which is a savings of $10. Every Thursday, there is a 10%
off special on all waxing services. The Summer Soother Package includes
one hour of a full body massage, a spa salt body treatment and an Oxygen
facial treatment that includes a peel or enzyme. This package is two and
a half hours of treatments for $185.50. There are several other summer
packages or you can design your own customized package. Gift certificates
for a day at the spa make great gifts for friends and relatives who
wouldn’t normally indulge themselves.

The second day spa that Huntington Beach has to offer is Skin Deep:
The Body Spa, at the corner of Warner Avenue and Beach Boulevard. This
spa is larger and has been expanded to include three suites and two
floors. Owner, Deborah Woods, has been in business there for 10 years and
also serves clients as a skin care therapist. The mission of Skin Deep is
to “ensure that each guest attains a feeling of relaxation, an awakening
of the senses, and a renewed enthusiasm for life.” Through a philosophy
of “East meets West” Skin Deep blends traditional Hawaiian healing
techniques with the finest European, American, Indian and Oriental spa
therapies. They invite each guest to “test the waters of wellness.”There
is a distinctive Asian feel to Skin Deep and each treatment room is
filled with an Eastern style of decor, music and rock fountains. The
interior design of the spa embodies the ancient art of Feng Shui, which
creates an environment that is most beneficial for one’s health,
prosperity and happiness. The staff at Skin Deep includes 10 skin care
therapists, seven massage therapists and one manicurist.
In order to provide clients with the ultimate holistic spa experience,
Deborah Woods, founder and owner of Skin Deep, does extensive research to
design the most healing treatments. These therapeutic treatments
encourage total mind and body healing by enhancing relaxation, restoring
vitality, improving circulation, eliminating harmful toxins and toning
skin and muscles. Their goal is to give the client a “renewed sense of
well-being during your visit that you can continue to experience long
after you leave.”
Facials, body treatments, massage and waxing are offered at Skin Deep
as well as nail care. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are other
services that can permanently remove unwanted body hair. Makeup artists
are also available to apply makeup, or to give step-by-step instruction
on the colors and products that can enhance your best features.
Micro-dermabrasion is another service offered at the Skin Deep spa.
Professional micro-dermabrasion is a simple and effective method of
removing imperfections on the surface of the skin. Using micronized
crystals to break apart dead cell layers, this treatment smoothes out
fine lines and wrinkles, and reduces enlarged pores and scars. It can be
used to eliminate age spots and hyper-pigmentation due to sun damage. A
free consultation is available for those interested in this treatment.
Usually, a series of treatments is performed in close succession to
achieve optimal results.
Psychotherapy is a unique service that Skin Deep provides. Michelle
Wall, a licensed clinical psychologist, guides clients through relaxation
training, stress management sessions, resolution therapy and psychogenic
alignment. Dr. Wall teaches clients methods for reducing conflict and
achieving harmony in their daily lives.
Skin Deep: The Body Spa is at 7862 Warner Ave., Suites J, K, and I.
