I realize it’s been a while since I shared my top beauty products. Since we’re already halfway through the year I figured why not make this post about my top beauty products of 2018. Some of the beauty products I have been using for years are still my current favorites. Other’s are newer products from some of my favorite brands, so I knew even before I got them that they would be winners. I know that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was kind of a flop in the clothing department due to the fact that they didn’t restock ANYTHING when the sale opened to the public last Friday but, there are still some amazing beauty scores!
Top Beauty Products: These are the beauty products that I use daily to help with my skincare, haircare, and beauty routine. I’ve been using many of these products for years but have found a few new products that have changed the game for me as of late, so I wanted to share them with you all.
Chanel Eye Makeup Remover – Has no problem removing waterproof mascara.
100% Pure Lavender Pore Refining Toner – Leaves your skin feeling cool and refreshed. I apply this right after I’ve washed my face with cleanser.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defying Moisturizer – I’ve been using this moisturizer for over a year and love how hydrated my skin feels. I do wait a while before putting anything else on my skin to make sure it has time to really soak into my skin.
Urban Decay Urban Defense Complexion Primer with SPF 30 – This product was a game changer for me since it is a primer but also has SPF. It feels and looks like a primer, leaving your skin smooth, matte, and ready to apply foundation.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer – I’ve been using this concealer for a while and like how it brightens my under eyes. It can crease after a long day but when I pat it with my fingers they creases vanish again.
Benefit Hello Flawless Oil-Free Foundation – This foundation has SPF in it as well but since I had been using this before I got my primer with SPF I’m using it till it’s out. This foundation goes on great with a brush and I feel like I use very little for a nice overall coverage…hence the reason it’s lasted me so long!
100% Pure Bronzer and Highlighter – I’ve ditched the blush on a daily basis and opted for bronzer and highlighter for a little contouring. I am very pleased with the 100% pure products. Even if I don’t put foundation on, I never leave the house without putting on my bronzer and highlighter. Even alone, they give the illusion of being made-up!
Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat Palette – Urban Decay gifted this palette to me and I absolutely love the colors. Since on a daily basis I keep it real simple #momlife I tend to use the lightest color in the palette for an all over shimmer.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara – I absolutely love this mascara. I feel like it goes on great, doesn’t flake throughout the day and makes my lashes look super long!
MAC Prep and Prime Lip Primer – I got this as part of a set and even when I choose to use a different matte lip than the one it came with I still always use the prep and prime. It seems to work with all the lipsticks and matte lip colors that I have.
Tory Burch scents – I was gifted by a friend a set of Tory Burch scents and I must say both of them have been my go-to. I don’t use much at all, just a dab on my wrists, elbow crease, and both sides of my neck up towards my ears…hope that makes sense.
Drybar Detox dry shampoo – This stuff smells amazing and is a total lifesaver on days when I don’t have time to wash my hair. It also doesn’t leave any white residue in my hair which is a total plus!
Drybar Prep Rally – I use this in my hair whenever I’m going to style it with my flatiron or curling wand. Like all Drybar products this one smells great and protects my hair from heat damage.
Top Beauty Tools: These are the tools that I use on a regular, if not daily basis and not the ones that I’ve purchased used for a little while, then let them collect dust in on of my beauty drawers…just so we’re clear!
My favorite beauty tools include my Drybar hair straightener, Drybar’s The Wrap Party curling wand, Clarisonic Mia, and my NuFace face toning device which I’ve had for almost two years. These are my top four beauty tools that I use regularly. You can find all four of these beauty tools at a number of different retailers like Ulta Beauty, Sephora, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales to name a few.
During the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale they have some beauty exclusives, which are sets of beauty products at a discount off their retail value. The Wrap Party is included in a bundle with other Drybar products to help you achieve the perfect curls, for $165 (same price as what The Wrap Party costs normally alone). I use a few of the products in this beauty exclusive package almost daily like the Mai Tai Spritzer and Triple Sec. I’ve not tried the Southern Belle shampoo or conditioner but I’m very curious to try them. You know they’re going to make your hair smell great because ALL Drybar products do! So if you’ve been needing a new curling wand then I’d say now would be the time to purchase before the beauty exclusive package goes away on August 6th.
As you can see I’m pretty light in the beauty tools department. I have some others that I’ve tried but haven’t gotten in a routine where I would use them regularly or the results didn’t seem to warrant continued use.
Beauty Tools I’m Curious to Try: I have been so curious to try a few new beauty devices as I’m dying to know if they actually work! I know for them to work you need to use them regularly but you could save so much money by not having to pay for some of the services these devices could do for you at home.
1. This precision hair removal device is one I’ve been eyeing. I tried a different hair removal device before and found it removed some of the pigment on my leg so I stopped using it and the color has since almost fully returned. Needless to say, I decided not to try using it again. But, that was years ago and I’m sure the technology just like everything else has developed so I am ready to give another product a try to see if I’ll have better results. If you have been considering getting laser hair removal than you know it can be very costly and you’re charged by the area making it that much more expensive if you want your full legs, bikini area, and underarms done. This tool is less than the price of one visit to a professional so if it works that would be AMAZING!
2. Skin firming device. Unlike the NuFace which helps give your face muscles a workout so that they stay lifted and firm this skin firming device I believe is geared more towards keeping the overall elasticity of your skin healthy so that your skin stays looking young. I’m not sure that it helps with removing wrinkles on your face but I would imagine it would help prevent new wrinkles from forming. I know there are a number of facials you can get to help the collagen in your skin but they’re pretty expensive so paying for this tool once could save you a bunch of money in the long run.
3. Light Therapy device for wrinkles. I don’t have many wrinkles on my face yet but I am forming some around my lips and eyes. I’d love for this tool to minimize the look of these wrinkles. If this tool works than it would be a huge money saver especially for those who already get light therapy treatments at a spa. Because I’m sure you need to purchase them in a series for the best results and that can get very expensive not to mention time consuming to have to constantly go out to the appointments. So this could not only be a money saver but a time saver too!
4. Micro-Needling Regeneration face tool. So I’ve been hearing a lot about micro-needling and honestly I’m not sure if it scares me too much to try it or not. The pictures of before and after a pretty impressive but it’s the pic of immediately after that makes me unsure if I could ever try it, let alone do it to myself. The fact that they have these products on the market for at home use makes me feel like it must not be as bad as the pictures make it out to be. Has anyone tried micro-needling and what has been your experience with it? I’m super curious about this one just not sure if I could go through with it.
Have you tried any of these beauty tools? If so, would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Or better yet, if you haven’t tried any of these, I’d love to know what beauty tools you’re dying to try out!
