Instead, Brits who are desperate to get their eyebrows and eyelashes done will have to wait another two weeks.

These beauty treatments will now restart on August 15 at the earliest.

Mr Johnson slammed the brakes on easing the UK out of lockdown restrictions following a spike in coronavirus cases.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics today revealed the number of Covid-19 cases had increased with 35,700 people currently infected with the bug.

THE start date for the following beauty treatments has been pushed back by two weeks by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The following close contact services were due to restart on August 1.

But as part of the announcement made today by Mr Johnson, they now won't be available again until at least August 15.

This includes:

  • Facials
  • Eyebrow tinting
  • Eyebrow waxing
  • Eyebrow threading
  • Eyelash tinting
  • Eyelash extensions

It comes as the updated R rate creeps up in England, with parts of the country likely to be above 1

It comes after bombshell new coronavirus rules meant 4.5million people were placed back into lockdown in large swathes of areas in the north of England.

The Government revealed at 9.16pm that households in Greater Manchester, parts of East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire were banned from meeting each other indoors from midnight last night.

England has been hit with 846 new positive cases – the highest number in 32 days – adding to fears the country is facing a second wave of the virus.

As well as beauty treatments being pushed back, Mr Johnson has also delayed the reopening of leisure centres.

This includes skating rinks, casinos and bowling alleys, as well as socially-distanced theatres and music venues.

These businesses also won't be allowed to reopen until August 15 at the earliest.

Speaking today, Mr Johnson said: "At every point I have said our plan to reopen society and the economy is conditional – that it relies on continued progress against the virus, and that we would not hesitate to put on the brakes if required.

"With those numbers creeping up, our assessment is that we should now squeeze that brake pedal in order to keep the virus under control."

Boris Johnson today announced:

  • The UK recorded its first rise in coronavirus cases since the end of May
  • Leisure centres like skating rinks and bowling alleys that had expected to reopen tomorrow will now have to wait another two weeks at least
  • Brits will have to wear a face mask in cinemas and museums from August 8
  • The Home Secretary will work with the police to ensure coronavirus rules are "properly enforced"
  • Sports fans will not be allowed to attend live events
  • Wedding receptions of up to 30 people will not be permitted
  • Facials also remain banned for another two weeks
  • The national pause on shielding for vulnerable Brits WILL go ahead from tomorrow
  • The UK "may need to go further" if people don't follow the rules

Full list of businesses that were due to reopen from August 1

BACK in July, the Prime Minister announced that more businesses would be allowed to reopen from August 1, as long as the infection rate remained low.

But this is now unlikely due to a spike in infections across the UK.

Businesses that were due to reopen from August 1:

  • Casinos
  • Bowling alleys
  • Leisure centres
  • Ice-skating rinks
  • Facial treatments at beauty salons
  • Theatres, music halls and other venues can open for socially distanced audiences

Businesses than can reopen from October:

  • Sports stadiums welcome back fans
  • Conferences can go ahead
  • Strip clubs

Businesses that must stay closed:

  • Nightclubs, dance halls, discotheques
  • Sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars
  • Indoor play areas, including soft-play areas

Further guidance is expected to be published in the coming days.

Wedding receptions of up to 30 people will not be allowed as planned either - although couples can still get wed.

But Boris confirmed the back to work message from August 1 was still going ahead.

In addition, Brits will have to wear masks in more places too including cinemas and places of worship.

Currently, face masks are compulsory in shops, banks and post offices and on public transport.

Police can issue £100 fines for those caught breaking the rules.

BRITS will be required to wear face masks in the following places from August 8, following new guidance issued by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Police can issue fines of up to £100 for those caught breaking the rules.

Here are the places you’ll need to wear a face covering from August 8:

  • Cinemas
  • Places of worship
  • Museums
  • Art galleries

Face masks have been compulsory in the following places since July 24:

  • Shops
  • Supermarkets
  • Shopping centres
  • Transport hubs - Train stations and terminals, airports, ports, bus and coach stations and terminals
  • Cafes and when buying takeaway food
  • Banks and building societies
  • Post Offices

Beauty salons were allowed to reopen on July 13 but beauticians were banned from offering close contact treatments.

This includes facials, eyebrow tinting, waxing and threading.

These treatments were banned because they require lots of time to be spent close to the face.

Experts say this could pose a hazard as splashes and droplets from the nose and mouth may be present.

Beauticians will have to wear face shields while performing these treatments.

The new rules for beauty salons followed the reopening of hairdressers and barbers on July 4.
