Mahmoud Khattab, CEO of Precision M.D. in California, has been a valued part of the medical industry for almost three decades. From Syria, Mahmoud Khattab graduated from the top-ranked Syrian medical school, the University of Damascus, in 1993. Once immigrating stateside, Khattab completed his medical residency at Case Western Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Case Western Hospital has the distinction of being one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the United States with a rigorous residency program.
His dedication to the medical field came from a profound need to help others, especially those who need better access to healthcare options. Through internist positions, Khattab offered acute treatment while also providing the resources necessary to take preventative healthcare measures.
Along with his ties to the medical field, Mahmoud Khattab has a background in philanthropy. His charitable endeavors are vast, but one of the most significant is his work with Syrian immigrants. Khattab has earned appointments on numerous charity boards as well as being named Chairman of the Syrian American Council.
Khattab’s current position is the CEO of Precision M.D, conveniently located in Elk Grove, California. The cosmetic surgery center offers a full range of services, including fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal, contouring, and more. Both non-surgical and surgical options are offered at the center to help clients look and feel better.
What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?
As CEO of Precision MD, I have to manage the business during the day. It’s a very busy practice, and it takes a lot of time and effort to manage it effectively. Our patients are very important to me, and I work hard to make sure they’re getting the best care. But the employees are also very important, and I want to be sure they’re getting what they need to be successful and to have a good working environment. I focus on both the patients and the employees and consider how I can make the practice better. To take proper care of my own health, and keep my stress levels down, I also go to the gym at least three or four times per week.
What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?
Persistence. I don’t like to give up on things, and I don’t like things that aren’t where they should be. If something doesn’t look quite right, I’ll keep working on it until I’m satisfied with where it is and where it’s headed in the future, too. Productivity isn’t really that hard, but you have to stay focused on it.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Be persistent, never give up, and trust yourself. Staying focused is one of the best ways to really accomplish your dreams, and you only fail when you stop trying. As long as you’re trusting in your abilities and believing in what you can do, you always have the chance to go far.
Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.
If you trust yourself, you can overcome any difficulties. A lot of people don’t believe that, but it’s because they aren’t really trusting themselves to do what they should with their lives. They may be afraid, or they think their ideas aren’t good ones, so they hold back. They never reach their full potential that way, because they won’t put their faith in their intuition and abilities.
As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
Keep going. A lot of people give up on the things that matter to them because they don’t get fast results right away. But if they would keep pressing forward, they would eventually see the fruits of their labor. They have to keep going, though, or they might stop right before they would have had a big breakthrough.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
Learn all the rules of the profession, and hire knowledgeable and trustworthy staff. Failure only really happens if you don’t try anymore.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Dreameffort
What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?
I donated it to a poor family, so they could buy food. There’s no better way to spend money than to help others who need it.
What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?
Google. I use it for everything. There are all kinds of services and analytics offered through it, so I can get everything in one place. It’s so convenient!
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
Getting Things Done by David Allen. It helps people be more productive and focused, and almost everyone can use more of that. People who want to achieve their goals and dreams need to understand how to focus their efforts, and how to be productive.
What is your favorite quote?
“Every failure is a step to success.” It’s a great reminder that you should never give up, because every time you try, you get closer to succeeding.
