June has arrived, bringing warmer, drier weather at last. The start of summer is my favourite time of year to plan a staycation, and Cornwall is one of my all-time favourite destinations. It’s the perfect spot for a family getaway to unwind and recharge. For my son, it’s all about the sand and ice creams, while I cherish the long walks and delicious food. Here are some of my top travel essentials for any staycation.
Chapel House Penzance
If you’re seeking a place that feels like the ultimate home away from home, Chapel House in Penzance is the perfect choice. This stunning townhouse hotel overlooks the harbour, offering breathtaking views. We were fortunate enough to stay in one of their beautiful suites, which featured a stunning harbour view from our window and a balcony where we could enjoy the scenery with a glass of wine in the evening.
Chapel House excels in both wellness and culinary delights. They host fantastic wellness weekends and retreats, offering a variety of activities such as breathwork, guided walks, yoga, and spa treatments, allowing you to focus on yourself. For fans of cold water swimming, there’s a sunrise harbour swim, where you are guided to a swimming spot for a refreshing morning dip. They provide a DryRobe and a thermos of hot tea or coffee to warm up afterwards. Alternatively, you can enjoy their garden sauna. As a big fan of ice baths, I found this an amazing way to start the day, especially when followed by their incredible breakfast.
The kitchen is the heart of this gorgeous hotel, dedicated to offering an amazing menu that celebrates all that West Cornwall has to offer. Breakfast at Chapel House is a delightful event. It starts with freshly baked breads and croissants, homemade smoothies, and jams, followed by incredible cooked breakfast options like smoked bacon with samphire and a poached egg, avocado toast, and the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever tasted. Breakfast feels like a lively family affair, with a buzzing atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.
I will definitely be returning, especially to try one of their supper clubs. The incredible attention to detail in every aspect of the experience, especially the food, truly makes you feel at home.
Currentbody Laser Hair Removal Device £579
I love a little at home holiday prep before any staycation, so I was so excited when my favourite at home tech brand CurrentBody launched their new laser hair removal device. For years I have been an epilator girl, but I have been longing to do laser hair removal for more long lasting results, but in clinic laser removal can be very expensive. Different from your traditional IPL ( intense pulse light) hair removal devices The CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device is the first ever at-home laser hair removal device on the market. Laser is a more powerful way to target hair removal as it penetrates deeper into the hair follicle. It is incredibly easy and totally painless to use and I can get my full body done in just 15 mins…at home. To get the best results you need to start off by doing it three times a week for the first three weeks and then once a week for twelve weeks. Thereafter you just need to do it once a week until you get the result you are after. It might sound like a bit of a time investment, but when you can do it in the comfort of your own home it really is very convenient. I highly rate CurrentBody for all their incredible skincare tools and this laser is no different. After just four weeks I can already see the difference. My hair isn’t growing back as quickly and my legs feel amazingly smooth. It has made me feel very ready for summer.
