LOCK HAVEN — A new waxing studio has opened up shop in Downtown Lock Haven.
A&S Studio, which opened for business in November of 2023, offers a range of waxing from face to full body. Currently, four estheticians are on deck for appointments, including mother-daughter owners, Alexa and Shari Lesher.
“This is mainly skin which is what I do like about us being in Lock Haven. I feel like there are a lot of hair salons here and I like that no one is doing all the skin. Between waxing, facials, brows, laminations, lashes, extensions… A little bit of everything for your skin,” Alexa explained.
Currently, A&S offers exclusively waxing; however, Alexa would like to branch into other forms of cosmetics such as microblading.
“I would definitely like to go back to school for microblading — the tattooing of the brows — that falls under cosmetic tattoo. But for Pennsylvania, they don’t allow it in the salon, so I’d have to get another room for me to do that,” she said.

The Leshers recently moved to the area from upstate New York after Alexa followed her boyfriend, Anthony Noto, for support when he was transferred to Lock Haven University for D1 wrestling.
With this, she ended up opening A&S in downtown Lock Haven with her mom, Shari, and with the help of her father, Cory Lesher.
Prior to opening A&S, Alexa earned her esthetician license at CPI. During this time, her parents were coming back and forth from their quiet hometown of Hilton, N.Y., to Lock Haven. That was until they decided to completely change their scenery and moved to Pennsylvania.
They instantly fell in love with the town and decided to move from their hometown to the area.
“We just fell in love with Lock Haven. This town is a little bigger than where we came from. We only had a pizza place, a bowling alley and one intersection light,” Cory said.

So far, the business has treated Alexa and her family well. Buzz has circled with the new waxing studio as there are not many places in the area for waxing specifics.
“It’s been a blast. I definitely couldn’t do it without my parents. They’ve really helped, especially when it comes to the finance part of it with Quickbooks,” she laughed.
A&S Waxing is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays; and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are closed Sundays and Mondays.

“I’m very grateful for this. I love this town being a small community. I probably wouldn’t be able to do this anywhere else,” Alexa expressed.
