One of our favorite things about the Lumea Comfort is its unique shape. Holding it will be relatively easy for most people. Its disc-like shape makes it pretty ergonomic, allowing you to hold it at multiple angles without having to bend your wrist as you work to apply a treatment.
But what makes it even easier to use is the fact that it weighs a mere one pound, compared to some other options that weigh in at over 4 pounds.
If you have wrist problems, trouble with your grip, or simply don’t want to expend extra energy when you already have to strain to reach difficult areas, this is probably the best choice for you. Its light weight also means that you can get through the process a little faster, since you won’t need to take “Ow, my arm is getting tired and sore” breaks.
And Results Are Fast, Too!
See results in as quickly as one treatment. Only the LumaRx and Remington make similar claims.
It can take up to two weeks after that first session for the hair to actually fall out, though, so don’t get concerned if you don’t see immediate results.
Think, though, about how much longer you will have to wait to see noticeable hair loss with those that require 3 to 5 treatments for the first visible results. Accounting for 2 weeks between treatments, that amounts to 6 to 10 weeks before you even begin to see an effect.
The Philips Lumea, on the other hand, promises full results in 2 to 3 months- up to a 95% reduction in hair! Only LumaRx beats this claim, but that one costs almost twice as much as this affordable machine.
Additionally, Phillips promises that this tiny device is actually capable of 200,000 flashes over its lifetime.
According to them, this obviates the need for a replaceable cartridge and can be expected to last a single user for six years. This seems a little debatable, though: everyone’s IPL hair removal experience is different depending on treatment area, skin tone, hair type and other factors.
EDIT: The Lumea Comfort hasn’t been available for quite some time now, so if you’re interested in the Lumea we now recommend this one with 4 attachments for body, face, bikini and armpits.
