What Are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are designed to restore your lips to a previous younger shape, correct unevenness, smooth wrinkles around your lips, or boost your confidence by making your lips more voluminous.

What’s the Difference Between a Lip Pop and a Lip Plump?
At La Belle Vie, we have two different procedures for lip enhancement: Lip Pop and Lip Plump. A Limp Plump is what you think of when picturing lip fillers, using either Juvederm or Restylane to create more plump, voluminous lips. A Lip Plump involves using dermal filler to make lips appear larger or to correct them.
On the other hand, a Lip Pop uses Botox injections around the edge of your lips to give them a more aesthetically pleasing shape. A Lip Pop does not use dermal filler, while a Lip Plump procedure does, which is the main difference.
What Should I Expect During a Lip Filler Treatment?
Your doctor will meet with you before your procedure to discuss your goals, anatomy, any potential complications, and what you should expect during your appointment.
Your provider will apply a numbing cream to your lips during the procedure to make the injections more comfortable. After between 15 and 30 minutes, your lips will be numb, and your provider will use a very thin needle to inject filler into all parts of your lips, including the edges and the corners. You might feel a slight pinch, but there shouldn’t be any pain. Next, the provider will inject around 1ml of fluid into the lips.
What Should I Expect After a Lip Filler Treatment?
The procedure should take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete, and afterward, your provider may ice your lips or gently massage them to minimize bruising and pain. You will be monitored for up to 15 minutes to ensure you don’t have any immediate side effects. You will be discharged after this and are free to drive yourself home, although you may want to have someone with you just in case.
For the next 24 to 48 hours, you will likely experience swelling and bruising of the lips, which can take up to a week to disappear entirely. You can apply ice packs for up to 10 minutes to help with any pain, and you should avoid wearing lip cosmetic products or exercising for 24 hours following your procedure. Also, be careful brushing your teeth, and be sure to drink plenty of water.
Are Lip Fillers Safe?
When performed by an experienced healthcare provider, lip injections are entirely safe and FDA-approved for those 21 and older. At La Belle Vie, our providers are qualified and trained for this (and many other) procedures, so you can rest assured that you are getting the highest quality care.
Are There Any Complications With Lip Fillers?
Getting lip fillers is not without its risks. While there are many aesthetic advantages to having lip fillers, some complications can arise. Aside from the expected pain, swelling, and bruising, you can have more severe pain and bleeding at the injection site, reactivation of any cold sores, discoloration of your lips, tenderness, or infection.
When you see lip fillers gone wrong on social media, these procedures are often done by inexperienced aestheticians with no credentials. It is vital that you have your lip fillers (and any other cosmetic treatment) done by a clinically trained professional qualified to administer the treatment. Our treatments are administered by experienced and licensed nurse practitioners and physician assistants at our medical spa in Utah. At La Belle Vie, we will discuss all the pros and cons of your lip augmentation with you before undergoing the procedure.
Does La Belle Vie Offer Financing?
Yes! At La Belle Vie, we have many options to help you fund your procedures. We have a financing program, plus a membership program. We also offer many monthly specials designed to reduce your costs even more.
The costs for these procedures will depend on the volume of filler injected and how long the appointment is expected to take. However, if you are curious about your exact cost, please reach out anytime. You can call our office or visit us in person to schedule a consultation for your Lip Plump.
How Long Do Lip Fillers Last?
Generally, lip fillers last six to 12 months. However, filler slowly wears away and dissolves over time, typically around a year after getting it. So Lip Plump treatments are not permanent solutions. However, La Belle Vie also offers routine touch-up services for those who want to keep their lips looking plump and fresh for many years to come.
Can I Get Other Procedures at the Same Time?
Absolutely! Many of our clients choose to undergo different aesthetic treatments during the same visit. Some of our most popular procedures include:
CoolSculpting
Laser Hair Removal
Botox
Hand Rejuvenation
Other Dermal Fillers
Acne Scar Treatment
LED Light Therapy
Stretch Mark Reduction
