Permanent hair removal – get rid of unwanted hair growth
By nature, we all have hair growth in different places on the body. It is quite natural, but at the same time very individual, whether you enjoy it, or whether you often try to cope with hair growth.
Hair growth is experienced by many as being both unwanted and bothersome, as shaving is often time-consuming and at the same time can also cause completely different problems, such as ingrown hairs, beard plague and general irritation on our skin.
Just here, you can advantageously consider permanent hair removal with laser. Permanent hair removal not only helps you get rid of unwanted hair growth, but also the discomfort that can appear in and on the skin in connection with hair removal.
You cannot treat hair with a laser if there is a tattoo in the desired area, as the machine is attracted to the dark color from the tattoo, and you can thereby risk burning the skin and the color of the tattoo will also be destroyed.
Our diode laser can treat from skin type I-V and on most hair types. However, it is only possible to treat hair that has pigment in it, therefore blonde, gray and red hair cannot be treated.
Laser hair removal in several rounds
The reason why laser hair removal requires several treatments is due to the different phases of the hair. The hair goes through a total of 3 different phases, they are called: The growth phase, the resting phase and the rejection phase.
In the hair’s growth phase, the hair follicle (follicle) forms a new hair, which first sits unchanged under the skin for a long time before it grows out. The hair follicle then rests for a while before it repeats the process once more and forms a new hair. But not all hair follicles are followed in this process. Therefore, some hair follicles will be in the growth phase, some will produce new hair, while the remaining will be dormant and therefore contain no hair.
Despite all the latest technology, it is only the hairs in the growth phase that the laser has an effect on. This is because the growth phase is the only phase where the hair follicle is active and susceptible to the laser’s influence. Because the hairs are not followed through the different phases, only about 20% of the hair follicles are in the growth phase at a time and are susceptible to the laser’s light.
When you have laser hair removal, you will therefore not be able to destroy all hair follicles at once. For most customers, 8-10 treatments will be necessary before a satisfactory result is achieved. At Inviocare, we space your treatments 6-8 weeks apart, to ensure that as many new hairs as possible will have reached the growth phase between each treatment.
How well does laser hair removal work?
With permanent hair removal, you will never be able to expect to be 100% hair-free. The vast majority, however, experience a strong reduction of hair of around 70-90%. Between each treatment, you will also experience that you get fewer and fewer hairs, which at the same time become lighter and finer in texture.
The damaged hair follicles do not form new hairs, but the body can form new hair follicles instead. This can happen on the basis of hormonal changes. We normally recommend having 1-2 follow-up treatments per year once you have achieved your desired result.
Popular treatment areas
In recent years, permanent hair removal has become more and more popular and although it is now possible to have laser hair treatment anywhere on the body, there are some areas in particular that are more popular than others:
- Armpit
- Bikini line, tanga and brazilian
- Leg
- Face
- Balls
- Back
- Upper lip
- Chin
Permanent hair removal for men
More and more men prioritize using laser treatment for hair removal. Heavy hair growth is a problem for many men. The strong hair growth can be a problem in several places on the body, but for the vast majority of our male customers, it is hair removal on the face or back, shoulders, chest, stomach and neck. Laser treatment is therefore also widely used as a hair remover for men.
Consultation before your treatment
Before your first treatment, you get a free consultation with one of our nurses. The consultation is part of a legal requirement that ensures you are thoroughly informed about all the things that may be necessary to know before you say yes to your treatment.
4 weeks before the treatment itself, you must avoid sunbathing or using a solarium and you must also not use self-tanner 2 weeks before treatment on the areas you want laser treated. If you have not had sun in the more sun-exposed areas, we can easily treat you all year round. Otherwise, we recommend that you take a break during the summer period. If you normally wax, epilate or pluck the area, at least 3 weeks should pass when it concerns hair removal on the face, and preferably at least 4 weeks when it concerns the rest of the body, before you can start your treatment course.
At your consultation, you will learn even more about the treatment, as well as be guided about its possible side effects.
If you wish, an appointment can be booked for both consultation and treatment on the same day.
How the treatment is carried out
At Inviocare, we use the latest, most effective and safe technology for permanent hair removal. We have a Vectus Diode laser.
Our Diode laser works by the hair strand absorbing the light from the laser, which is then converted into heat. The heat is conducted through the hair and down into the hair follicle, where it will permanently destroy the hair follicle and thereby destroy hair growth.
The day before your treatment, you must remove the hairs with a scraper in the area you wish to treat.
You should avoid plucking, waxing or bleaching the hair 4 weeks before a laser treatment, as this will reduce the effect of the laser. In the periods between your treatments, only a scraper should therefore be used.
Before your treatment begins, you will be given a pair of protective glasses so that the light from the laser does not cause damage to your eyes.
Does permanent hair removal hurt?
When you are treated with a laser, it does not require anaesthesia. Most people describe the feeling as a kind of small snap with an elastic band. Others may feel a short-term heat and discomfort in connection with the laser shot itself.
The laser’s shot will feel like a warm, short-term shock to the skin, which will, however, subside quickly again. The laser’s built-in cooling system helps to minimize discomfort during the treatment.
However, the treatment is quickly over and the discomfort is not at all so great that it cannot be endured.
After the treatment – side effects
When it comes to permanent hair removal side effects, the skin may feel a bit warm right after your treatment. However, the warm sensation subsides after a few minutes to an hour. Afterwards, the skin may appear a little red and there may be some swelling in the hair follicles, which is quite natural and will disappear within a few days.
You can therefore continue your day and your chores exactly as you usually do when you have finished a treatment with us. However, it is important that the treated area is not exposed to direct sun exposure for up to 2 weeks after the laser treatment.
Approximately 2 weeks after your treatment, the treated hairs will have grown out and fallen out.
How long does a treatment take?
A treatment varies in time, depending on which and how many areas you want treated, but expect it to take between 10-45 minutes. After your treatment, you can go back to work or continue your day as you wish.
