Open from dawn to dusk, Tiger Shark Cove Park is a great place to get out and enjoy the sunshine. There is a large ocean-themed playground for the kids to enjoy, designed by the community and built by volunteers. The playground includes a Tiger Shark play sculpture, swing sets, a sunken pirate ship play area, a sand castle, a submarine with portholes, a crab shack, obstacle courses, shaded areas, and soft, rubberized flooring.
There’s also an athletic center with two batting cages, four softball fields, three pavilions, and a concession stand. During the week, the pavilions can be used at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis. Rentals are required for weekend use.
2. Peaceful Waters Sanctuary
11676 Pierson Rd, Wellington, FL 33414
For a day where you can really enjoy nature, be sure to visit Peaceful Waters Sanctuary. Local wildlife can be found throughout the park, including otters, spoonbills, white pelicans and much more. It’s a great place to just relax and unwind in the shade. You can also explore the sanctuary on the many trails that go throughout the park. Perhaps best of all, this 30-acre wetlands park is free and usually not crowded at all.
Along the mile of trails and elevated nature walk boards, you will find displays that represent many of the native wildlife and plant species in the sanctuary that are native to Florida. If you love wildlife photography, Peaceful Waters Sanctuary is an ideal location to snap some of the best pictures of your life!
3. Wellington Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat
