Botox has been a commonly used beauty treatment for lines and wrinkles for over 20 years. The cosmetic injectable is administered directly into the skin to reduce fine lines and smooth out the area. Botox works by forcing the muscles in your face to relax, preventing them from contracting to form the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This type of beauty procedure can be quite expensive and must be performed by a trained professional. The active ingredient in Botox is a toxin called botulinum and can be extremely dangerous if incorrectly administered. A temporary treatment, the effects of Botox usually last between three to four weeks. Full results aren’t always visible immediately, they can take upto a week or two to show.
However, Botox alone won’t provide you with a complete skincare treatment. In fact, it does little to actually aid in the health of your skin. It’s used purely for quick and drastic changes to your skin and doesn’t take the place of a facial treatment or regular skin care routine. If you’ve had Botox injected into your face, you may be concerned about how it affects your other beauty treatments and skincare. It doesn’t stop your hair from growing, so you’ll still require the same level of cosmetic maintenance as always.
Can I Get My Eyebrows Waxed Straight Away?
So, the question is, how long do you have to wait after getting botox to get your brows waxed? Most medical experts agree that one to two days is completely fine. It is theoretically possible to have your eyebrows waxed within hours of the procedure but this is not recommended. The liquid Botox needs to be evenly dispersed within your forehead so you’re required to keep your head upright and refrain from touching the area too much for the first few hours. The mild trauma of waxing the area too soon could cause the Botox to move around in an unwanted way. Once you’ve passed the first 24 hours of injection, you should be fine. If you’re somebody that’s particularly cautious, you can wait a full week, but it’s highly unlikely you’ll see any negative consequences after the first day.
Should I Get My Eyebrows Waxed Before My Botox Treatment?
While this might seem like a logical idea, it’s not recommended. The injected Botox will reshape that area of your face. Once it settles, you may find that your brows are no longer shaped the way they were beforehand. There’s no way to add extra hair back onto your face so we highly recommend you wait until after your Botox procedure to see exactly what the best brow shaping option for you is.
