Intensed Pulsed Light Treatments for Hair Removal

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is an innovative, reliable and safe method of removing unwanted hair for both men & women. It stands out as the most effective and least painful method among other hair removal techniques. When compared to laser treatments, IPL hair removal system is gentler on the skin and more versatile in treating a broader range of skin tones.

The Lynton Luminette Advance IPL treatment is based on a state-of-the-art technology that delivers rapid pulses of high intensity light to the area that is being treated. The light energy is converted into heat, which destroys the hair follicle at the root (shaft), inhibiting future growth.

At any one time, not all hair follicles are ‘active’, and only active hair follicles can be affected by the treatment. ‘Inactive’ hair follicles can be treated as they become ‘active’ over time. For IPL treatments an average of 6-8 treatments are required to remove most visible hair. Treatment sessions are usually 4 to 6 weeks apart.

How does IPL work for hair removal?

The machine has a unique dual phase pulse which is designed to provide efficient destruction of hair follicles. It removes hair by sending out high-energy light pulses. There are actually two beams of light, one yellow and one red, which together affect both the existing hair and the follicles where the hair grows.

IPL works best at removing hair when it’s in the active growth phase. But not all the hair in the treatment area will be in this phase at any given time. So we spread our IPL treatments out over a period of time. This is to make sure that hair which isn’t treated in one session is affected in the next. The way hair grows is slightly different for everyone, so we tailor our treatment to suit you..

How many treatments are necessary?

Around 6 treatments are needed on average however this does vary from person to person. Facial hair generally will need more sessions.

When will I see the results?
​
After your first session you will notice the hairs start to fall out and grow back with bald patches. After each session the bald patches will gradually get bigger as more hair is damaged whilst it is in the ‘Anagen’ Phase.
