Well, here we are with the 1st week of 2021 under our belts! How was it for you? Great, I hope. We are officially on the countdown now with just one week left until we move our son to Nashville. Seems we’ve talked about it for so long and it always seemed so far off yet here we are. While I certainly wish he wanted to and would be living in Orlando I also realize he is an adult. I am excited for him but I’ll miss him like crazy!
Enough of that, let’s get to this week’s favorites. This week my list is compiled of items that’ve caught my eye over the last few weeks.
Favorite #1 Ordinary skin products
My dear friend Laura turned me on to this brand a few months ago. Since then I received a few other products for Christmas from my best friend Angie. I’ve done a little digging to find which products would be best for my skin type.
The nice thing about this brand is that they are very affordable. The packaging isn’t fancy but the ingredients are strong and do the job. I’ve used Buffet, the Peeling Solution, and the Lactic Acid. So far I’m impressed! I like the way my skin feels. The brand offers and overwhelming number of products so I searched YouTube to find what regimen is recommended for skin like mine.
Here are the products recommended for AM use (after cleansing of course!): Buffet, Matrixyl, Amino Acids, Vitamin C, Moisturizer, and then of course sunscreen.
In the PM it is recommended that you alternate nights. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday use Matrixyl, Amino Acids, Retinoid, and Moisturizer. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday use Glycolic Acid, Amino Acids, and then Moisturizer. Seems easy enough and definitely affordable!
Favorite #2 Towels from Opal House
Since updating our bathrooms I’ve bought and returned so many towels! Either the color wasn’t quite right or we just didn’t care for the fabric. I was surprised to find the towels we liked the most came from Target, the Opal House brand. These towels feel so rich yet the price point is affordable. We also like the Threshold towels. I’ve washed them multiple times already and they are holding up well too! I don’t care for the Room Essentials brand – they don’t wash up very well.
This week you can save an extra 10% on bedding bath with the Target Circle app!
Favorite #3 Floral Dress from Target
Initially it was the pattern that caught my eye on this dress. I wasn’t entirely sure the cut would work on me but I have to tell you – I love it. You can see me style it on my IG here – I made a Reels and it was fun! I shared it here on Wednesday as well.
Also from Target, this fabulous black sweater dress from Monday. One word to describe it – stunning!
I tried another Target dress too – this one is so fun and colorful. The print feels very retro to me so I paired it with my tall sock boots. It has pockets too!
One more thing, before we leave the subject of Target. I swear they are geniuses – they take high end brands/looks and recreate for a fraction of the price. Case in point? My Pistola Star jacket, I first shared here. You might remember I had it on a wish list for ages and when it finally was available for purchase I still had to wait like 6 weeks for it to arrive. It was a major splurge for me.
Well look at what Target has now! Yep, my bestie Andrea shared it yesterday and my mind was blown. The Target jacket is 1/3 of the price of mine! Grab it – it will work with denim, black, white, shorts, skirts, dresses, so versatile!
Favorite #4 Sunscreen instead of Foundation
I can hardly believe I am typing this, but I have officially gone 2 weeks without wearing foundation. It all started with a visit to a skincare clinic to inquire about laser hair removal. The Plastic Surgeon who runs the clinic told me she wouldn’t even consider using a laser on me since I don’t wear sunscreen daily. Long story short, I left with no plans for laser hair removal (way too $$$) but with this tinted sunscreen. I have found that I like wearing it in place of foundation but along with concealer and powder. My skin looks so much better!
Favorite # 5 New Tub and bamboo caddy
I know I shared my Amazon purchases on Tuesday but I have to tell you how much I love this bamboo caddy and my new tub. I am a big bath taker – pretty much every other day in fact. There’s nothing like a relaxing soak!
My old tub made it hard to soak and relax in – it was just too big. This one is perfect and now all I need is a pillow. The caddy has a place for my wine glass and my book. I may never leave the tub!
Well that’s it for the 1st week of January, 2021. I hope yours was a good one! This weekend we’ll be doing some organizing of our new cabinets in the master bathroom and laundry room. On top of that we’ll be spending as much time as we can with Nolan – it’s his last weekend before the big move!
