Why Your Life Will Be Better When You Choose to Laser & Ditch The Razor
Smooth is sexy. Smooth is comfortable. Smooth is preferred. From legs, to underarms, bikini line, Brazillian, faces and arms… our culture wants to be silky smooth without all the hassle of shaving daily. Today hair removal is desired, preferred, and even expected.
Perhaps, you’re tired of shaving, and waxing has become irritating to your skin. A solid solution for you may just be laser hair removal!
Everyone’s singing its praises but what makes laser hair removal so great, exactly? I mean, you’ve heard it’s a process ¬t an overnight wonder. So, is it really better than traditional methods, such as shaving or waxing?
At Rejuvenated Medical Spa, we say enthusiastically say, “Yes, laser hair removal is worth it!” And here are the reasons why:
Precise
Did you know the hair on our body grows in three various stages? They stages are called anagen, telogen, and catagen. Laser hair removal is most effective on the hairs in the early part of the anagen stage, when hair is actively growing. The laser heats up the hair follicle in these very early stages, preventing it from growing any further. With our highly-trained staff of medical professionals, the laser can target unwanted hair without damaging any of the skin around it.
Effective
Introduced to the general public in 1997, hair removal lasers were approved by the FDA for “permanent hair reduction,” meaning the practice itself is long-term and stable. Even though it’s not proven to permanently remove all body hair, laser hair removal will permanently reduce body hair, if you remain dedicated to the scheduled consecutive treatments every 4 weeks or so. Another perk is that laser hair removal will change the texture and color of your body hair, making it finer and lighter.
Convenient
There are so many convenient aspects to laser hair removal. First of all, it’s lightning-fast. Laser hair removal treats several hairs in a large surface area and depending on the area being treated, laser hair removal services can take anywhere from a few minutes to a half an hour for larger body areas. Plus, with many patients agreeing that it’s less painful than waxing, it’s been described as feeling like a gentle pinch or the snap of a warm rubber band. And of course, you don’t have to lift a finger during the entire process! The treatments can be done on your lunch break even! Now, if that’s not convenience, we don’t know what is.
What are some of the other benefits of Laser Hair Reduction?
- Cost – the average woman spends about $20 per month on razors, shaving cream etc.
- Time – did you know that shaving your legs and bikini area can waste up to 4 hours a month?! That is time I would rather spend doing something else. That time adds up to 2 entire days each year.
- Reduce Frustration – No razor burn, bumps or ingrown hairs! Razor burn, ingrown hairs, accidental nicks and all of the expense of razors, creams etc. really make shaving a drag. Laser hair reduction can reduce hair to the point that you won’t need to shave at all.

FAQs-
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
While some patients get close to permanent results, most have to undergo touch-up treatments every few years to keep hair at bay. This is largely dependent on your type of hair, ethnicity, and any hormone changes. For instance, if you undergo laser hair reduction of your lip but then go through menopause, you will likely begin growing hair on your lip again and require touch-up treatments.
How many treatments does it take?
Most patients require 6-7 treatments (performed every 4 weeks) for near complete laser hair reduction. We say “near complete” because finer and lighter hairs are not targeted by the laser and may remain.
Is Laser Hair Removal for all hair and skin types?
Some lasers can only treat certain skin types. At Rejuvenated Medical Spa, our laser is a Sciton Joule and we have the ability to treat all skin types safely. Only darker hair can be treated. Blonde or gray hair is not targeted safely by any lasers and therefore does not respond well to laser hair reduction.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from any area of the body. For instance, the face, leg, chin, back, arms, underarms, bikini line, Brazilian, and other areas. We have even had men treat the scalp.
When should I begin laser hair reduction?
Treatments can begin any time of the year. However, since most patients require 6 treatments performed every 4 weeks, we recommend treating in the Fall or Winter so that you are adequately treated for Spring Break or Summer swimsuits.
Are all lasers basically the same for laser hair reduction?
No, there are several different wavelengths used to treat unwanted hair and many brands of laser beyond that. While the type of laser does matter, it is most important who is running the laser. Our laser is a Sciton Joule and we have the ability to treat unwanted hair in all skin types. Our certified laser technician, Molly, has 15 years of experience running lasers of all types. Be sure the person performing your laser hair reduction is a certified laser technician.
How do I prepare for Laser Hair Reduction?
You may shave the area that will be treated but you should limit plucking and waxing for 4 to 6 weeks prior to your treatments. Plucking and waxing removes the hair from the follicle and it cannot be treated. You should limit sun exposure to the treated areas because the laser treatment can make you very sensitive to the sun.
Good news though… No need to grow hair between treatments. Unlike waxing, you can shave between treatments. Say goodbye to the days of having to grow your hair out; with laser hair removal, you can shave as much as you like between sessions. The benefits of laser versus other forms of hair removal are abundantly clear.
What should I expect during Laser Hair Reduction?
We will use a cooling device to reduce discomfort of the procedure. If the area is especially sensitive or for certain skin types we can apply a topical numbing cream.
When is the best time to start my Laser Hair Reduction Treatments?
Best time start laser hair removal is to be considered so you can be looking your best in your swimsuit in the spring before spring break trips or summer plans. Looking great in that tiny bikini means no razor burn or ingrown hairs. Typically, this is usually when most people start considering and inquiring about laser hair removal.
However, the beginning of summer is the worst time to start the laser hair removal process unless you are someone that avoids the sun and tanning beds like the plague.
