Tired of shaving, but don’t want to spend thousands on laser hair removal? At-home treatments could be the next best thing to ridding yourself of unwanted hair.
After dealing with years of shaving — and ingrown hairs, skin irritation, prickly regrowth — we decided it was time to find an alternative. Waxing is out of the question (ouch!) and while professional laser hair removal would be great, that price tag is definitely out of the question.
Did you know it can cost $2,500 or more for a full series of office appointments? Our wallets say, “No, thank you!”

How does laser hair removal work?
As the name sounds, laser hair removal uses laser lights to remove unwanted hair from your body. Removal devices use a series of pulsing lights to penetrate the skin and heat up the hair follicle to slowly destroy it, leading to thinner and thinner hair and, eventually, eliminating it all together. Just remember: it’s not a one-and-done deal, it will take multiple sessions to fully get rid of the hair. Each session slowly thins the follicle, until it eventually stops growing altogether.
All about Nood and The Flasher 2.0
The Flasher 2.0 is an FDA-approved laser hair removal device that is safe to use on any part of your body where hair grows—including bikini and Brazillian areas. Technically, it’s not “laser hair removal” but actually IPL, a.k.a. intense pulsed light hair removal — which is meant to be much less painful overall. We were excited to try it and see if the “pain-free technology” was true.
The first use took a little more time while we read through directions and figured out how everything worked. The Flasher 2.0 has a fully digital and easy-to-read display to show us what level we were working on (there are seven levels of intensity), an automatic mode to make it virtually impossible to mess up, and FDA-approved skin-safe technology to work with. One downside is the need to plug it into an outlet to use, rather than being wireless — but it’s hard to complain when it works and is in the comfort of your own home.

Sessions are quick and easy otherwise, taking around just ten minutes per body part. The “pain” is more like a burning sensation (which makes sense given the light is burning away the hair follicle) and is very bearable, only lasting a few seconds as you move along your skin. While it’s safe on most skin and hair types, it’s most effective on those with Fitzpatrick skin types I-V and brown, black, and dirty blonde hair (but not blonde, white, or red hair). And if you have ultra-sensitive skin, be sure to start on a low-intensity level and work your way up to see how your skin can handle it. One thing missing that would have definitely been helpful is a pair of sunglasses or eye protection of some sort — the laser light is bright to say the least, especially when being used close to the face like in the underarm area.
So, does at-home laser hair removal actually work?
In short, we’re pleasantly surprised by the results. After just a few weeks of regular use, we started to see noticeable changes in the thickness of the body hair we’d zapped. It began to grow lighter and thinner, proof that the Flasher 2.0 was already working! Nood guarantees results in eight weeks or less and even offers a 90-day money-back guarantee if you aren’t totally happy with your experience. But if you don’t believe us, just read some reviews from thousands of happy customers.
If you decide to give Nood and the Flasher 2.0 a try, be sure to pick up products from the skincare line: the Revealer (an exfoliant) and the Glow Up (a moisturizer). These two bottles will significantly help in the prep work and post-session care while you’re treating your skin. Your smooth, healthy skin will thank you later!
