Braun is bringing more tech into the personal care space with Skin i·expert IPL.
In a video, P&G Senior Scientist Stefania Angelino, PhD—who has spent a dozen years working on projects at Braun as well as Gillette and Venus—called the new intense pulsed light (IPL) device a gamechanger.
Braun’s Skin i·expert IPL is being billed as the world’s first “truly connected” smart IPL system that learns use after use and provides personalized feedback for fast and long-lasting hair removal results at home.
Procter & Gamble says the point of differentiation is Braun’s SensoAdapt technology, which measures skin tone and continuously adapts the energy level to ensure the optimal amount of power is used to protect the skin. This is important as skin tone can vary across the body. For example, the skin tone in the armpit may be darker than that on the legs, and it will absorb more energy. The Braun IPL will auto-adjust the energy to a lower level to ensure it is comfortable, according to Braun.
Braun is touting the new tool as an at-home alternative to laser hair removal.
The new smart IPL hair removal device features three head attachments. Using bluetooth connection, the app provides real-time expert guidance tailored to help users avoid missed spots, for example.
