What is Hair Fall PRP?

What is the meaning of Hair Fall PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair fall is a three-step medical procedure in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed, and injected into the scalp. Some doctors believe that PRP injections trigger the natural growth of hair and maintain it by increasing the thickness of the hair shaft (part of the hair seen above the scalp) and increasing the blood supply to the hair follicle (tunnel-shaped structure in the outer layer of the skin). PRP injections are sometimes used in combination with medications and other hair loss treatment procedures.

What is the Hair Fall PRP procedure?

Hair fall PRP is a three-step procedure. The procedure takes three sessions, four to six weeks apart. Maintenance treatment sessions are required every four to six months.

  • Blood is first drawn, mostly from the arm, and the blood is put into a centrifugal machine (a machine that spins quickly and separates the fluids of different densities).
  • After approximately ten minutes in the centrifugal machine, the blood will separate into three layers:
  • Platelet-poor plasma
  • Platelet-rich plasma
  • Red blood cells
  • The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is drawn up into a syringe. It is then injected into the scalp areas that require increased hair growth.
