You don’t need to go to a beauty parlor to remove unwanted hair. Underarm hair removal is easy and can be done right at home. This article lists the best ways of getting rid of hair under your arms.
Under the arms can be one of the most irritating places to have hair. If you like wearing sleeveless dresses, underarm hair can be extremely annoying. The two most important reasons why people opt to remove hair under the arms are: (1) for aesthetic appeal and (2) helping the armpit get rid of odor-causing bacteria.
There are various ways of hair removal like laser treatment, plucking, hair removal creams, electrolysis, waxing, and shaving. Most of them are temporary, but some are permanent. On the other hand, some can be painful while others are expensive.
Shaving
Shaving is the easiest way of removing hair. It is a temporary method where hair is snipped on the surface of the skin. In this method, underarm hair tends to grow back very quickly, which requires you to shave quite often. There are a variety of shavers, razors, and electric razors available.
Waxing
In this method, the roots of hair, also called hair follicles are removed and there is no hair left on the skin. If done professionally and correctly, waxing can prevent hair from regrowing for up to 6 weeks. Waxing also removes dead skin.
Epilating
Epilating is a process wherein unwanted underarm hair is removed along with the hair follicles. Epilators grip and pull out hair in a tweezing action and can be used even if the hair is very small. This process is useful if you want hair-free underarms every day, as it removes hair right at the follicles. The process is not very painful and is easy to carry out.
Plucking
In this method, tweezers are used to pull out hair. Hair must be long enough to be removed. This method is not very feasible, as it takes a long time. Moreover, some people may find this process a bit uncomfortable for such a sensitive area.
Hair Removal Creams
These creams are also called depilatories, which help in dissolving hair. It is spread over the hair and allowed to settle down for sometime. After about 15 minutes, the cream is washed off which leaves behind hairless skin. To be on the safer side, use the cream on a patch of skin to check if it causes any irritation, for example on your thighs, before you use it for your underarms.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a permanent process of hair removal. In this process, an electric current is applied to destroy hair follicles. It is a time-consuming process as each hair follicle is treated separately. However, this is perfect for people who want to save those few minutes usually spent shaving in the shower. Moreover, it may require several attempts as hair may not be removed permanently in the first try.
For best results, it is always better to use creams as they have long-lasting effects. However, there are chances that the use of creams may darken the region if the root of the hair is not removed.
