Wedding season is one of the busiest times of the year at waxing salons because let’s face it, discomfort or unwanted hair is the last thing you want to think about on your big day. Since waxing removes hair for a longer period of time, delivering better results than any other method, it’s the ideal form of hair removal for a worry-free wedding day and honeymoon.
Here are five tips and tricks for brides (and grooms!) from the waxing pros at LunchboxWax to arm you with all the tricks needed to ensure glowing, smooth and flawless skin when you say “I Do.”
One
We highly recommend trying waxing at least once or twice prior to making an appointment before the big day. Although getting waxed the first time is usually seamless with an end result of glowing and smooth skin, it’s always a good idea to do a trial run in the rare event your skin has a reaction. It’s important to understand how your hair and skin will react prior to your wedding so there are no issues during the big event or honeymoon.
Two
For brows, have an open and honest discussion with your waxologist before your session. Waxologists want their customers to be thrilled with their waxing results, especially before their big day! Eyebrow shape is such a personal preference, so be sure to chat with your waxologist to discuss what you’re looking for!
Three
Tanning! We understand that bronzed and glowing skin is ideal for your wedding day, but make sure to avoid the tanning bed 48 hours before and after your wax. Tanning beds increase the chance of damaged skin, especially when used on the same day. Additionally, you’ll want to spray tan at least one day after your wax. Waxing after a spray tan can easily remove the tan and make it look discolored and patchy, while a spray tan immediately after your wax can cause inflammation or ingrown due to the pores being open.
Four
Always consider the medication and skincare products that you are currently using. Some medications and products can cause adverse reactions to your skin when used in conjunction with waxing, so it’s always important to consult your physician for any specific questions or concerns.
Five
To sum it all up, make a waxing plan! As we mentioned, plan out a trial or two to see how your hair will respond, and figure out if and when you’re planning to tan. Another thing to consider is if you want to be hairless for your wedding night or for your honeymoon. Depending on when your honeymoon falls, you may want to wax after your wedding to be smooth for that beach vacation with your new honey. A waxing plan will make sure you’re feeling your best on your wedding day, and long after.
