On top of eating a balanced diet and moving your body, if you want to get a bit of help in shifting some bulge before summer, there’s a treatment that can literally freeze the fat cells right off you. We find out about Cooltech.
We all know that when it comes to losing weight and getting in shape, there are no shortcuts.
But what if there were?
On top of eating a balanced diet and moving your body, if you want to get a bit of help in shifting some bulge before summer, there’s a treatment that can literally freeze the fat cells right off you.
Cryolipolysis—also known as ‘fat freezing’—is a non-invasive medical treatment that destroys fat cells by freezing them, permanently killing the fat cells without damaging any of the surrounding tissue. After the cells die, over the weeks following treatment, they’re eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.
In Canberra, the treatment is available at Total Body Contouring in Manuka, where they not only offer fat freezing, but use the Cooltech machine—the most advanced cryolipolysis system in the world.
Owned by mother-daughter duo Suzie Heath and Danielle Rustenburg, who have more than 35 years’ combined industry experience, Total Body Contouring offers non-invasive full body contouring treatments. They have a range of aesthetic services—from their own exclusive organic skincare range, skin tightening and resurfacing, plus advanced cellulite treatments.
Drawing on her background as a trained nurse, Suzie most recently added the Cooltech to the clinic, and said the machine is a “game-changer”.
“We’re the first in Canberra to have Cooltech and it’s a top of the range medical device. This device is record-breaking for weight loss and boasts the highest fat cell elimination of any fat freezing medical-grade technology in the world today. Our machine delivers better than industry standard results time after time,” she says.
“It’s proven time and again to get incredible results in a non-invasive way with no down-time. And we do 70-minute treatments—more than twice as long as other treatments—which makes a huge difference for results.”
Passionate about delivering a personalised, full-service package for each client, Suzie and Danielle say client comfort, a lovely experience and making people feel at home is the number one priority. And because they wouldn’t offer anything they didn’t completely trust themselves, both ladies have had fat freezing sessions on the Cooltech targeting their stomachs, and both saw impressive results in a couple of weeks.
“Results can take six to 12 weeks, but there have been many cases where our clients have seen results in as little as two weeks. And that was the case with both Danielle and I—we were blown away by the results,” said Suzie.
During the session, an applicator is applied to the relevant part of the body and you just have to lie back and relax while the applicator sucks in the targeted area and decreases the temperature, killing the fat cells. A gentle tugging can be felt with a cold sensation for only a few minutes and then you are numb for the rest of the treatment making it very comfortable.
While the stomach is the most common area for people to target, fat freezing can be done on the thighs, bottom, back, arms, or anywhere that the applicator can attach to unwanted fat.
And while you may not have heard about the treatment just yet, Danielle said fat freezing is expected to be the “next big thing” in beauty services.
“We expect it to be like laser hair removal. In the beginning, people weren’t really sure about it, but now it’s just the done thing,” said Danielle.
“So that’s where we see fat freezing going, because it really does work.”
Treatment prices for fat freezing start from $400. Total Body Contouring offers free consultations, so you can find out your eligibility and the best individual treatment for you before committing.
