Summer is no longer waiting just around the corner – it’s practically knocking on our door, and we are more than ready to let it in. With so many big things happening in the world these days, it seems like the arrival of summer is all we need to ease our minds. It’s going to warm and sunny, which means that your skin is going to get the stage, so it’s high time you prepared it for the show. If you’re dreaming of showing off your youthful, glowing skin this summer, here’s how you can get it. A simple guide for youthful, glowing skin.
*This is a guest post. I was not paid for it, it’s just a nice and informative read!
Exfoliate regularly to achieve a glowing skin
The most important step towards perfectly smooth skin is exfoliation. People with dry skin know how itchy and flaky it can become after just one day, but even if you don’t notice it, your body is actually shedding skin cells incredibly fast all day, every day. If you don’t exfoliate regularly, they stay on you and make your skin feel dry and look dull no matter how much lotion you apply. This is the reason why you should use body scrub when you take a shower and exfoliate at least twice a week. The best thing is that you can even make your own body scrub out of ground coffee, granulated sugar, and coconut oil. It’s easy to make and your skin will look and feel wonderful afterward.
Find the right hair removal method
During summer, we all like wearing shorter and lighter clothes, which means that we show off much more of our skin, and for this reason, many people choose to remove the hair from their legs and arms. Thankfully, there are many hair removal methods available these days so you will probably find the one that works best for you, be it waxing, laser hair removal, or good old shaving. Whichever method you decide to use, try to prepare your skin for it and soothe it afterward. You will get the best results if you exfoliate before you shave or wax, and you can use soothing Aloë Vera gel to reduce the inflammation and hydrate your skin when you finish.
Switch to natural products for a youthful skin
Just like you change your wardrobe with every passing season, you should also change your skincare routine. Thick body butters might be perfect for colder weather, but they will only feel sticky and heavy during warm summer months. Light body lotions are the best because it doesn’t take too long for your skin to soak them in, especially if they’re organic. You might have dry or sensitive skin, so it’s important that you do some research and find the best organic skin care products for your skin type. It’s important that you use different moisturizers for your face and body because the skin on your face is much more delicate and requires gentler care.
Wear sunscreen
We can’t even begin to explain how important it is to wear sunscreen every time you leave your house (and we do mean every single time). You might think that you don’t have to use sunscreen just because you will only be going to the store or work in your garden for about 10 minutes, but you do. If you are going and staying outside even for a little while, make sure you reapply sunscreen to your face and neck every one or two hours. Wearing sunscreen will protect your skin from the harmful UV rays, thus lowering your chances of getting skin cancer but at the same time, it will help with fine lines and wrinkles. Sun-exposed skin will age faster, making lines and wrinkles on your face and neck more noticeable, but with sunscreen, you will slow down this process.
Drink a lot of water
It might come as a surprise to some that our bodies contain a very high percentage of water (around 65%), yet so many of us are constantly dehydrated. When you get thirsty, it means that the dehydration level is already high enough for your body to signal to you that you have to drink some water. Dehydration causes dry and flaky skin, headaches, dizziness, and makes our eyes sting, so carrying a water bottle with you and sipping from it even when you don’t feel particularly thirsty is the best thing you can do for your skin and body. There are even useful apps you can install on your phone that will send reminders to drink a glass of water several times a day, and if you’re forgetful, this is the best way to keep yourself (and your skin) hydrated.
Remember that not all people have been blessed with perfect skin (in fact, most of us have to work hard to get it), and imperfections are perfectly natural. The best thing you can do is to take really good care of your skin, keep it hydrated and moisturized, and protect it from the sun. These things might not seem like much at the moment, but over time, your skin will retain that youthful glow, and you won’t find it hard to maintain it.
