FAIRMONT– A new med spa, offering a host of services, will open at 120 West 1st St. near downtown Fairmont at the end of the month. Owners Kaci Paradis and Shelli Gibson are excited for what the business, Rewind Med Spa, will bring to the community.
Paradis was born and raised in the area and Gibson is originally from Iowa but relocating to Fairmont. Both women had an interest in opening a med spa and were introduced to each other through a mutual friend.
“We hit it off right away and knew we’d make a great team,” Gibson said.
Both Paradis and Gibson have a history of working as emergency room nurses and initially bonded over that. Gibson has been nursing for more than 20 years with most of that time spent in the ER. Paradis has been in critical care for over a decade and in 2019 received her masters degree for Family Nurse Practitioner.
While they’re going to experience a change in setting, Gibson pointed out the basics of what they’re doing is the same.
“Nursing is always learning and anatomy. We have that education and skill and love to learn and share with other people.”
Paradis said she’s always had an interest in the beauty field and what’s up-and-coming in terms of skincare and makeup. She pointed out that Gibson has experience in owning a boutique and that they both want to help people feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin.
The women feel lucky with the building, formerly Fairmont National Agency, Inc., that they found and enjoy its location as it’s close to downtown. The building boasts five different rooms that provide the space they need. This week they did some painting and have been working on finishing the flooring. Not much else work is needed aside from decorating the space.
“We’re grateful for our family and friends who have helped us,” Gibson said.
Paradis enjoys the exposed brick walls in the building and said in the future the goal is to turn the upstairs into an Airbnb.
As for services that Rewind Med Spa will offer, there will be derma fillers, laser hair removal, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, microfusions, micro-needling, facials, IV therapy, teeth whitening and Invisalign by Smile LABS VIP.
“We’re starting off small but we have a lot of plans to bring in more services in mid-June,” Gibson said.
Paradis added that they’ll have an aesthetician coming on in June.
Rewind will also carry the skin care line Skinbetter Science Line and custom jewelry from 3souls Jewelry.
The business will open its doors on May 26. Paradis said they’ll be open for regular services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. they’ll be open for people to tour and hope to offer some wine and time for meet and greet. This time coincides with Going Hog Wild’s unveiling of hog statues on Downtown Plaza.
Both women shared what they think the business will add to the community.
“When we started, there was nothing in this area within 60 miles of what we’re offering,” Gibson said.
Paradis added that she knows of several people who drive over two hours to the Twin Cities to have laser hair removal done.
“This is an awesome opportunity to have it right here in Fairmont and to grow Fairmont, grow the community and grow the downtown. It’s a beautiful place. Our goal is to continue to grow Fairmont,” Paradis said.
“We hope people book on our website and check us out so we can meet people, form relationships and become a part of the community,” said Gibson.
