Laser Skin Treatments Overview
We specialise in the use of lasers for treating a range of skin conditions both dermatological and aesthetic. We boast an impressive range of the latest laser equipment together with many years of experience to select the ideal treatment for each unique patient.
Many people come to us seeking help to improve sun damage on the skin of the face, neck or hands. UV radiation from the sun will slowly cause the skin on your face to prematurely age and can also cause hyperpigmentation or sun damage. Laser therapy is excellent for improving skin which has been damaged by the sun. Laser treatment on skin can improve lines and wrinkles. We are also often asked for laser skin resurfacing or laser facials, these treatments will all improve skin appearance.

Other Skin Conditions Treated By Laser
Lasersskin treatments
Initially they were used primarily to treat vascular birthmarks such as port wine stains. However with big advances recently, lasers can now be used to improve a wider range of skin worries.
Today lasers are used to treat non-malignant pigmented lesions such as freckles and birthmarks. They can safely remove unwanted tattoos and improve scars.
Lasers are also effective with conditions such as laser treatment for acne, acne scars, melasma, rosacea and vitiligo, to name just a few.
Laser hair removal is also a popular treatment for removing unwanted face and body hair.
How Does Laser Skin Treatment Work?
Many people come to us for information about laser skin resurfacing and so it’s important to understand how lasers work.
Most lasers used in dermatology deliver a controlled wavelength of light, to heat up target structures (such as a sun spot). However, and importantly, they do not damage the surrounding tissue.
The heat and light from the laser will activate a healing process that will eventually lead to the growth of new collagen in the skin.
At Dr Haus Dermatology we carry out the following two main types of laser treatments:
Ablative Laser Treatments
Ablative lasers make microscopic holes in the dermis, or outer layer of your skin, so they can target damaged cells deep in your dermal layer. This is often known as laser resurfacing although there are many different degrees of skin resurfacing.
An ablative treatment such as with our new Cool Peel Laser will generally produce superior and longer-lasting results. This treatment can improve loose skin on the face and neck, deep acne scars and laser stretch mark removal.
Non-ablative Laser Treatments
Non-ablative lasers work by creating heat in the skin without injuring the surface. They are unable to penetrate as deeply as ablative lasers, but are still an effective treatment. They can be used for anyone with rosacea, broken or burst blood vessels or fine wrinkles on the face. Chest or cleavage wrinkles as well as the back of the hands can also be treated.
A non-ablative laser will often be used by Dr Haus or his colleagues in combination with another treatment to address different concerns in the one appointment.
