After performing non-surgical cosmetic procedures in his office for nearly two years, Dr. Kashif Qureshi, an internal medicine physician, moved his office to Allen Road in July.
According to Seernin Tajuddin, business director for the new Woodhaven facility, Qureshi’s patient demand outgrew the former location so the doctor opened Freesia Medi-Spa, Downriver’s “first medical spa.”
“A medical spa is a hybrid experience,” Tajuddin said. “We provide you with all the pampering you want when you go to a day spa, such as the comfy robes and slippers, drinks, beautiful, soothing decor and music with the results that you need and expect when you go to a doctor’s office.
“Because Dr. Qureshi’s medical practice is on the other side of the spa, the doctor is always available to answer questions or provide same-day treatments.”
Tajuddin said the spa offers regular day spa services such as facials, massage and waxing, but because it is a medical facility, the microdermabrasion and chemical peels are medical grade.
“In order to accommodate our working clientele, as well as mothers of small children, our hours vary from day to day,” Tajjudin said.
Hours for the spa are noon to 5 p.m. Mondays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every other Saturday.
“We also offer laser hair removal, IPL photorejuvenation, Botox, restylene fillers, mesotherapy and leg vein treatments, which are done in two ways: Sclerotherapy for larger, deeper veins and laser treatments for spider veins that are smaller and more superficial,” she said.
“All of our services are performed by highly trained certified clinicians. Our massage therapist is highly skilled and our laser treatments are performed by a paramedical esthetician and all injections are performed by the doctor,” Tajuddin said. “The doctor doesn’t allow anyone, even a nurse, to perform any type of procedure that requires skilled injections.”
Tajuddin said mesotherapy is a safe, non-surgical technique for significant weight loss, spot weight reduction, heavy thighs, abdomen, hips and buttocks.
“Mesotherapy has been touted as a breakthrough for body and skin rejuvenation,” she said. “(The) technique performed by specially trained physicians to help fat deposits and cellulite. Common areas include love handles, belly, thighs and double chin. Treatment involves the injection of a specially prepared mixture of vitamins and amino acid millimeters under the skin into the problem areas. Just a drop of solution is used at each site. Mesotherapy is most effective in specific problems areas, and cannot substitute for good eating habits.”
Freesia Medi-Spa offers free consultations and skin Visia analysis on each client.
“The Visia is an objective quantification on skin traits. We take two pictures of your face, one regular and one UV. We are then able to analyze the skin in terms of pores, wrinkles, spots, texture, bacteria and UV damage. We are then able to compare the skin to women, or men, of the exact same age,” she said.
The most popular service the spa provides is IPL photorejuvenation.
Tajjudin said this procedure is ideal for anyone who is combating rosacea, vascular birthmarks, spider veins, poor texture, large pores, freckles and fine lines and wrinkles.
Aromatherapy is incorporated in several of the spa’s services.
Cajuput oil is used to alleviate the pain of migraines and peppermint oil to relieve sinus pressure. A combination of peppermint oil and herbal adjustment is used for sore muscles.
Tajjudin said insurance companies do not pay for most of the procedures the spa provides.
“They are cosmetic and therefore considered elective and not medically necessary,” she said. “We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard and we also offer a financing, which is same as cash. This way, you pay a monthly amount and (are) not charged any interest.”
Along with offering a variety of spa services, the Woodhaven business carries a full-line of dermatologist recommended mineral make-up and medical-grade skin care products.
“We carry Skin Ceutical Skin Care products and they are medical-grade. Skin Ceutical’s products are only available in doctor’s offices and provide significantly improve in skin quality including both anti-aging and acne treatments,” she said. “Anything you purchase at Freesia Medi-Spa meets high standards and we guarantee results.
