Brows, brows, brows. Oh how I get so annoyed by my brows. Being a redhead, it’s hard to manage my brows! I either have to use a powder or pencil to show brows on my face! But one thing I love to get done is having my brows waxed and groomed. I used to get them waxed at a hair salon and then I had a friend do them and then I didn’t do them at all – like for a few months. Thankfully, since I have light hair, it was pretty hard to tell they hadn’t been waxed…that is until I started shopping for my bridal makeup. And then I noticed it. Oh my gosh! I needed to get my brows waxed stat!!!
So while I was in Macy’s one day (shopping for my bridal makeup at the MAC counter and BareMinerals counter), I noticed a long bar with barber style chairs agains the back wall. I walked over and explored the Benefit Brow Bar.
As I was looking around, one of the sales associates asked me if I needed any help and I asked her what the bar was for. She was super friendly and told me that they have a variety of services. Shortly after asking, I also noticed a sign with all of their services. At the Benefit Brow Bar, you can get Brow Arching, Facial Waxing, Lash Application, Makeup Lessons and more! I love how quick they get you in and how pampered I felt!
The first thing to do is let the associate know you’d like to get your brows waxed. They will then check the appointment book and fit you into the soonest appointment available. When I went on the weekend (a fairly busy time), I had to wait for 30 minutes at the most. I paid $20 plus tip.
Once it was my turn, the cosmetologist called me over to have a seat. She took a makeup crayon and made a few marks on my face so she knew where to wax. Then came the wax application. I like this part because it’s nice and warm. It’s the part where she puts the strip on the wax, presses down and rips the hairs out of your face (ha ha – it’s really not that bad – only stings for a second)!
Being a redhead, I have fair skin, so it turns pretty red where my brows are waxed. After waxing my brows, an aloe solution is applied to my skin. This helps to cool the sting and mellows out the redness too. Thankfully, it’s only red for a little bit and then it goes away.
After a few minutes, she draws in my brows. I’ve been to the Benefit Brow Bar twice (you can probably tell from my pictures by the different outfits and amounts of makeup I had on). Usually I end up fixing my brows to the way I like them because they like to make them thick and big.
The last time I went in to get my brows waxed, I also picked up some other goodies. I purchased some Urban Decay False Lashes and eyeshadow. The sales associate put the lashes on for me and they looked really good and natural! Since I was purchasing some other stuff, she also gave me a makeover. It was a lot of fun!
Have you ever had your brows waxed at the Benefit Brow Bar?
