I think we can all agree that CurrentBody are at the very top of the beauty technology game, so whenever they release something new, I’m always very excited to try it. The CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device could not have arrived at a better time for me since I’ve recently started swimming and I was looking into more permanent hair removal solutions since hair removal is such a faff. Enter, the CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device, which is here to provide permanent results in a delivery system that is so quick and easy, I thought I was doing it wrong…
The CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device can be used straight out of the box and doesn’t take any time to set-up. It comes with a quick start guide, a more thorough and detailed manual, a mains plug and a sturdy box for storage. The device itself has a sensor to check your skin suitability which you use before starting the treatment. There are six settings, so you can start off on a lower setting to acclimate, although I just went straight in at setting six and I haven’t had any issues. The CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device utilises laser technology (the same as yo would find in salons) rather than IPL, so the wavelength is a lot more potent and concentrated, allowing the device to target the follicle precisely.
All functions on the device are controlled via a single button, which does take a bit of getting used to. You change the settings by pressing the button slowly (there’s a light guide to tell you what setting you’re on) and you press the button more quickly to let the device know you’re ready to start. I have knocked the button a couple of times during treatment, which then changes the power setting, so I then have to slowly press my way through the settings to get it back to where I want it. It’s a tiny issue, but I thought I’d mention it.
The CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device has a decent sized head that covers plenty of space, plus the “hairdryer like” design allows you to rotate the position easily to get into trickier areas. You can use this pretty much everywhere (including the lower face on women, not suitable for male facial hair) and I’ve been using it on my lower legs and underarms – I’ll also be adding my bikini line to my treatment regime soon. Once you’ve let the device know you’re ready to begin, it’ll start the treatment once it’s registered contact with the skin (you’ll know this is the case as the light being emitted will turn red) and it’ll start beeping; each beep is one treatment done, so you move it to the next spot after each beep.
If you’ve used any kind of IPL before then you’ll likely be expecting a snapping feeling or similar, but you don’t get that with the CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device, which is why I thought I was doing it wrong. All you get is a bit of heat and maybe a slightly more intense flick of heat if you hit an area with pigmentation, but overall you don’t really feel anything at all, even at the top setting. So not only is it extremely fast, it’s also painless, making it an incredibly easy treatment to undertake.
For the first three weeks you use the CurrentBody Skin Laser Hair Removal Device three times a week, then from week four to twelve you use it once a week, then after that you can keep using it once a week until you’ve reached results you’re happy with. The only preparation needed for a treatment is a clean shave, and ideally you need to do the treatment as quickly as possible after you shave. I’m a few weeks into my treatment (I’m being intentionally vague as I had a Covid infection so I didn’t do any treatments during that time) and I can definitely see a noticeable reduction in hair growth, with some patches being completely clear of any new hair. The hair that is still coming through is much finer and less obvious, so I’m really excited to see what the final results will be, which I will share with you soon!
