NEDERLAND — “The power of giving continuous life” is the motto of Nederland’s newest business location — Vitality Wellness Med Spa.
“As soon as someone sits down, especially since I do injections more than anything, the first thing they ask me is, ‘what do you think is wrong?’” said Melissa McKey, nurse practitioner at Vitality. “You will never hear me tell you what is wrong with your face — ever.”
Vitality Wellness Med Spa is located at 1003 Nederland Ave., where McKey said the job is to enhance beauty, not transform it.
“Our goal is to make you feel beautiful and to tell you these are all the good things about your skin, and these are things that we can do in a natural way to enhance those things,” McKey said. “We can’t make you look different. We don’t want to make you look different. We just want your beauty to be enhanced however that is.”
McKey, along with other certified nurse practitioners, medical aestheticians and a licensed therapist, service everything from massage therapy and facials to Botox, cosmetics and teeth whitening.
“When you come into a spa, you know the goal is to enhance your beauty, health, wellness and your external,” she said. “But, our goal is to make you feel better on the inside, too.”
Sheila Ingham, a medical aesthetician, certified laser technician and licensed aesthetic instructor, said this business is the only medical day spa in Mid-County.
“There are other day spas in the area, but we are the only one that is medical licensed,” she said. “So we can do the injections, the IV therapy, the plasma pen and lasers.”
Alongside Botox services and laser therapy, Vitality offers a unique skin care line, Société, which can only be sold with the supervision of a medical director.
“The teens with acne have gotten really crazy over the last few years,” Ingham said. “The acne has become more prevalent so we really strive to teach the teens on what to do, what not eat, what to clean and how.”
McKey said all retail products are cruelty free, natural, paradigm free and plant based.
“We use all the products that we sell in the store,” she said. “All the face washes and the creams used during facials all are the medical grade cosmetics.”
Ingham, a Port Acres native, added one of the most popular services offered is laser hair removal.
“A lot of hormonal issues come out mostly for women with hair growth on their face,” she said. “They can handle it anywhere else, but sometimes the hormones that they are taking will make them have dark hair on their lip, chin or down their neck. So we do a lot of consults for hair removal, that’s really big.”
Alongside other existing services, Vitality is offering an entirely new service statewide — the plasma pen, which focuses on individual skin tightening, correction and rejuvenation.
“It’s been our baby,” McKey said. “It was FDA approved within the last few years and we’ve been using the pen with amazing results. It decreases skin by 5-10 years, so depending on what we you are getting removed or taken care, it will take you back without having to redo it multiple times.”
Vitality Wellness Day Spa offers free consultations for all new and returning clients. To schedule a consultation or for additional questions, call 409-344-4466.
“The group that we have here is extremely knowledgeable,” McKey said. “They use evidence-based practice, research-based practice, in order to provide our clients with safe, effective medical advice whether that is on skin care, injections, weight loss or just feeling better. That’s what we pride ourselves on. We’re here and we’re ready.”
The Nederland location opened in May and officially cut the ribbon Wednesday afternoon.
