With any hair removal method, there will be a level of discomfort, which varies from person to person. But there are ways to reduce irritation and ensure a soft, smooth result every time.
Whether you are a beginner or a pro, we have some tips and tricks to help make hair removal less uncomfortable.
Tip #1: Work in Small Sections
You aren’t in a competition. So, no, you don’t need to finish waxing at high speed. Take your time and tackle one small area at a time. It gives you better control over the waxing strip and allows you to stretch the skin properly. Ensure the wax is the correct temp - a honey like consistency. With practice comes confidence and speed!
Tip #2: Trim the Hair Regularly
If your hair is too long, you will experience more pain if the hair is not pulled from the root on the first try. If your hair is about 1cm it will be less painful. So trim things up before you get started. Parissa Scissors are precise and make trimming a breeze.
Tip #3: Advil can Reduce Discomfort
Anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen, aspirin and naproxen work well to reduce inflammation and prevent swelling. If you are prone to swelling or irritation, taking a small dose may help to decrease pain during the hair removal process. Tip #4: Hold the Skin Firmly
If you are waxing on your own, use one hand to hold the skin taut and another hand to apply the wax. Press it down gently and stretch the skin again with one hand before you pull the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Tip #5: Don’t Wax During Your Period
For those who menstruate, try to avoid waxing during this time! During your period and in the days leading up to it, your skin may be more sensitive and you may experience more irritation when waxing. If you already experience pain, swelling and discomfort during Aunt Flo's visit, then hold off on the hair removal until you are back to feeling your best.
Tip #6: Aftercare is Where It’s At
