Owned and operated by medical doctor, J. A. Astaphan, Silk Laser offers the most advanced medical laser and aesthetics technology available. Their laser services include laser hair removal, laser skin rejuvenation, LaserFACIALSM, laser skin tightening as well as laser removal of age spots and spider veins.
The Centre has been around since 2006 and has been serving a mostly male clientele through those years.
“When we first started off, we had 75% to 80% male clients,” said Silk’s office manager, Nicole Silverstein.
She said that when manufacturers would send them brochures on their products, she would tell them to send them ones focused more towards men, with pictures of men in them.
“We are one of the offices who were instrumental in showing [manufacturers] that there is such a huge male audience interested in laser,” Silverstein explained.
For those who want to look younger, the Centre offers Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane and Radiesse injections.
Dr. Astaphan does all the procedures at Silk. He doesn’t believe in doing permanent procedures because what you want now, you might not want in 30 years.
“You might not want high cheekbones at age 65 like you do at 35,” Silverstein explains.
They also offer Latisse, the FDA-approved eyelash lengthener. Their laser hair removal services work for the lightest to the darkest complexions. They use Alexandrite and Nd:TAG lasers to remove the unwanted hair.
Dr. Astaphan has a diverse background and takes pride in bringing the latest medical technology and health services to his patients. He graduated from dental school, and then trained as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He left the dental field, entered medical school, and after graduating from medical school in 1985, trained as an anesthesiologist. Dr. Astaphan is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He became involved in “Anti-aging and Complementary Medicine” in 1996. The doctor thinks that offering laser and aesthetic technology is a natural progression to complement his work in the field of anti-aging. He’s a “Certified Laser Hair Removal Professional” and stays abreast of all of the latest techniques.
Silverstein said that her office is very small and therefore, they can get to know their clients better.
“In our office, you’re not a number,” she said. “We get to know everyone.”
Nicole said that they pride themselves on their customer service. In addition to the friendly staff, the environment is also very comfortable.
“We’re extremely medical, but you don’t get that feel at all when you come into our office,” Silverstein added.

“We get people in their mid to late 20s up to 70 years old,” said Silverstein. “We recently had a laser hair patient that was 80-years-old.”
