When you turn on the Perfect Smooth by COSBeauty you must test your skin for suitability with the built-in skin sensor. The device won’t work until you do this.

Not every skin tone is suitable for IPL. All but Type V! (very dark) skin on the Fitzpatrick Phototyping Scale should be able to use it..

Where is The Hair?

However, you can use it on your bikini line (but not on some other intimate parts) and under your arms, as long as it is comfortable enough for you.

If you’ve recently been tanning in the sun or on a tanning bed (I don’t recommend either) you should wait until you skin calms down or it might burn or be blistered.

Better Than Other Methods?

Is this better than other methods of hair removal? I’d say “yes” especially if you want more permanent reduction of hair. It’s clean, and easy. However, you do have to continue to use it to see really reduced hair growth or permanent results.

You don’t need an advanced degree to run the PerfectSmooth either. The controls are understandable with a nice lighted LED panel.

Cos Beauty claims that with just two to four self-treatment sessions, most users experience visually diminished hair that is comparable to results produced by professionally administered laser procedures.

Everyone’s body is dfferent so it might take longer than this, but it’s definitely going to make a difference if you keep using it.

You have to be patient and know that your skin and hair are unique. Don’t give up!

Treatment Schedule:

As I mentioned in safety above, this is not a toy. Don’t overdue it. Here is how to use the Cos Beauty Perfect Smooth effectively:

1. For the first four sessions: treat each area once every two weeks.

2. .After the fourth session, treat each area once a month.

3. Most women will need 6 to 8 treatment sessions for permanent hair removal.

4.Most men will need an average of 8 to 10 treatment sessions.

Any Downside?

There really isn’t a downside as long as you read the instructions and follow them. However, it’s an investment whereas creams and gels are cheap.

The Perfect Smooth isn’t hard to use but you need some practice to get the device to fire properly in some locations on curved skin parts.

The treatments aren’t painful, but there is a bit of a jolt that feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin as the laser is working. Sometimes, you can smell a bit of burning hair.

Cos beauty claims that Perfect Smooth will encourage collagen renewal and help reduce future acne breakouts.

I can’t comment on how and why IPL works to destroy old collagen structures and build up new collagen or how IPL reduces acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin. That’s another story entirely. However, it you find additional skincare benefits that is a plus.

In Conclusion:

I view the CosBeauty PerfectSmooth as primarily a hair removal device and I really do like it a great deal.
