Hair removal is personal - you might be doing it for yourself- for hygiene, for vanity- or for whatever reason you deem fit. Currently, there are plenty of hair removal options available out there, and you can choose one to suit your lifestyle, your tolerance to pain and your budget. We list out the different ones.
Waxing
The most common hair removal procedure, it is painful, since it pulls the hair from the root. The hair grows back after a period of two or three weeks. Waxing can be used for most parts of the body, armpits, legs and arms. Brazilian waxing involves removing hair from your pubic area and Bikini waxing involves removing hair from areas which are not covered by your underwear/bikini bottom. Waxing can also be done for one’s eyebrows but that isn’t popular in India.
Shaving
If you’re running late, or have to wear a sleeveless top or skirt, shaving is a super convenient way to remove hair from your armpits or legs. A razor cuts the hair follicle which means the hair will regrow quickly - and depending on your hair growth, reappear in a week or so. To get an optimum shave, ensure you do it after a warm shower, when the hair is softer. And contrary to popular belief, shaving doesn’t cause your hair to regrow thicker.

Epilators
Epilators are mechanical tweezers that remove the hair from the root and that can be painful. Though like waxing, you get accustomed to it. Epilators are usually battery operated and are convenient to carry while travelling, but they cannot be used on all parts of the body. There are bikini trimmers available.
Laser
Laser is a permanent hair removal technique and is by all means not cheap. It is spread over sessions and you also have to factor that in your schedule. It is said that laser hair removal is more successful when you have thicker hair over a fine upper lip buzz, but results may vary and it’s best to get a consultation with a dermatologist.
Threading
Threading is popular in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East, as a means of removing hair from the face, such as the upper lip, face and shaping the eyebrow. It plucks the hair from the root which allows the hair to re-emerge after three to four weeks.
