Sugaring and waxing are both effective techniques used to remove unwanted hair. Both these techniques remove the hair from its roots thereby rendering soft, hairless skin for around 2-4 weeks. These methods of hair removal have been around for quite a while. Many women around the world stick to waxing while several others prefer the sugaring procedure. Though they serve the same purpose, these procedures are different in their own ways.
Let us have a closer look at these procedures to know how they differ from each other.
The Ingredients
Waxing solution is made from resins, oils, and by-products of trees. Sugaring paste, on the other hand, is prepared from natural ingredients such as melted sugar, water, and lemon juice.
Waxes may even contain certain preservatives and additives. However, sugaring paste is devoid of all these – it is a completely natural solution.
The Procedure
There are two varieties when it comes to wax – hard wax and soft wax. The procedure to conduct waxing differs based on the kind of wax one chooses. Hard wax is applied evenly on the desired area and then pulled quickly holding the applied wax from its edge. Soft wax is also applied in a similar method but it is removed with the help of a wax strip. The wax strip is placed on the area where the wax is applied. It is pressed and then quickly removed. In both the procedures of waxing, the wax is applied in the direction of the hair and is pulled in the opposite direction.
When it comes to sugaring, the paste is applied in the opposite direction of the hair. It is then pressed and as the paste hardens it is quickly pulled in the direction of the hair. You can even place a soft cotton cloth on the paste and pull it to remove the unwanted hair.
No Burning or Redness
Wax needs to be heated before application. It is applied hot for the effective removal of hair. There is always a chance of incurring a burnt patch or redness owing to this reason. Sugar wax hair removal paste is applied when it is lukewarm. This bars the chances of any kind of burning or redness.
Moreover, if wax is applied more than once in the same area, it causes soreness. However, this is not the case with sugaring. This natural, skin-friendly paste can be applied multiple times in the same area without causing any harm.
The Pain Factor
It has been observed that sugaring causes lesser pain as compared to waxing. This is mainly because sugaring only removes the unwanted hair. It does not stick to the skin. Whereas, waxing removes the dead layer of skin along with the hair.
Post Clean Up
Waxing leaves the skin sticky. This stickiness needs to be removed with oils, astringent and other such products post the procedure. Conversely, sugaring does not leave behind any sticky residue. You can simply wash your skin with water after undergoing this procedure.
Looking at the above-mentioned points, sugaring seems to be a comparatively better option. Doesn’t it?
