Add a touch of luxury to your clients’ next waxing appointment by creating a sensorial salon experience for all the senses.
#1. Sight
Help clients relax as soon as they step through your door with a calming colour scheme of pale blues, greens and grey. To nail this one you don’t need to go all out and repaint your walls duck egg blue, instead try white walls with coloured accents like towels and furniture.
Adjustable lighting is also important, as being able to dim the lights will help you create a more comfortable environment for clients getting undressed in preparation for their wax.
#2. Taste
Start your appointments off in the right way by offering a treat for the tastebuds. Calming herbal teas will help to warm and relax in winter and a delicious iced tea or fruit infused sparking water will chill clients out in summer.
#3. Smell
Flavoured wax is one way to bring the element of smell into your treatments, but also consider reed diffusers or aromatic oils. While candles can be problematic in a salon environment, diffusers are a safe and fuss-free way to scent your rooms.
A humidifier with an aromatherapy tray is another great option; you can scent your space and stop the air from drying clients’ skin. Try a jasmine or citrus-based scent for the warmer months, and cinnamon or lavender for cold winter day.
#4. Hearing
Although you can probably strike up a conversation with anyone (you’re a therapist after all!) it’s nice to just pop on some sounds and let your clients zone out. We don’t just mean music – an ocean or woodland soundtrack can be extremely soothing and help your client relax on the table.
#5. Touch
Touch is obviously the most important sense of all when you’re performing a wax treatment. To give your clients the best possible experience, make sure the room is warm enough – no one wants to undress in arctic conditions – and that your hands aren’t icy. And make sure your wax is kept at the optimal temperature so it doesn’t burn your client; the consistency of honey is a good guide.
