Winter or summer, who doesn’t like to have silky smooth legs? Getting them is one thing but keeping them smooth on a regular basis can be hard work. If you’re tired of having to shave your legs on a daily basis and struggling to stay on top of the stubble that seems to grow back practically overnight, it might be time to consider ditching the razor and say hello to leg waxing.
What to expect
Leg waxing has been a common hair removal practice for decades, and is a tried and tested way to keep hairy legs at bay for women who aren’t ready to try more drastic measures such as laser hair removal. Like other forms of body waxing, there's a number of different products and techniques your therapist might use to remove your leg hair, and this can differ from place to place. From sugaring and stripless hot wax, to good old fashioned regular wax strips, there are several ways a therapist can utilise wax to remove unwanted hair from your body.

Hot Wax is a technique that's growing in popularity. Considered far less painful than other forms of waxing, it comes as no surprise to discover that it's now one of the most requested types of hair removal treatments in the UK. Unlike regular wax strips, it puts far less pressure on sensitive skin and is applied directly to your skin. The hardened wax is then quickly pulled off like a regular strip, though pulls less on the skin when removed which can help to avoid redness or bruising. Whatever method you choose, your end result should always be the same; smooth, hair free legs that stay that way for at least four weeks.
Good to know
One major need to know; no matter how tempted you might be, try to resist the urge to pick up that razor during your regrowth period. In order for the wax to grip onto your leg hair it needs to be at least half a centimeter in length, meaning that you’ll reverse all of the hard work if you shave in between sessions. Pulling the hair straight from the root will ensure it grows back thinner and sparser, so the longer you leave it between waxes, the less noticeable your hair will be over time. It also has the added benefit of reducing the risk of getting ingrown hairs.
