Hot melted wax burning right on your skin only to be ripped out causing more pain? Waxing is a great option for hair removal but if you want to try out all your other options, that’s great! There are several natural, electrical; lesser in pain or completely painless options and here’s your guide to it -
Shaving
The classic razors. There are several myths about shaving which are not completely true. No, your hair does not grow back thicker or rougher after shaving but can get pokey in the early regrowth stage. Shaving hair might not always, but can give rise to ingrown hair. Shaving does not darken your skin or damage your skin. Choose a product which is designed to painlessly and safely remove hair.
Epilators
A midway compromise to shaving and waxing, epilators are electrical machines used to remove the hair by grabbing onto multiple layers of hair, similar to waxing. In this method, hair is being pulled from the roots like waxing but can be painless for some people. There are several options like spring epilators which can be painful, instead an electrical devices is a better choice to make.
Depilatories
Depilatories, popularly sold as hair removal creams also can be in as gels, lotions, aerosols or roll-ons. These are easier and faster methods of hair removal. These are creams with dissolving effects which have alkaline chemicals that react with your hair. Depilatories are mostly safe and have longer lasting effects. One needs to be very careful while picking a product as the chemicals can be harmful on certain skin types and a patch test is a must.
Sugaring
Sugaring is a natural method of removing hair right from the roots which is done by replacing hot wax with a hot sugary solution which is considered less painful and safer on the skin. Sugar solutions are easy to make at home and can come in handy when you have no time to run to a salon.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is the process of hair removal by destroying the hair follicle on exposure to pulses of laser light. It is an expensive option for hair removal and can be equally painful like waxing, in certain regions. It is commonly misunderstood that laser treatment is permanent but it is as temporary as the other methods.
Electrolysis method
The only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal, it is better to go to a trained electrologist for this procedure. A professional will insert a thin wire into the hair follicle under the surface of the skin. An electric current moves down the wire to the bottom of the follicle, destroying the hair root. The follicle damage prevents hair from growing and causes the existing hair to fall out.
There are several methods to remove hair but the reasons to do it are very few. If you’re concerned about ‘hygiene’ and ‘looking hairy’, the days are long gone when hairless skin was advertised and it is completely hygienic and necessary to have body hair. Choose your options wisely and take care of your body with love.
