How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
*Unlike shaving or waxing, the Elite MPX uses powerful laser beams to target individual hair follicles below the surface of the skin. The gentle pulses of laser energy destroy the hair follicles and prevent hair from growing back. Approximately four to six sessions are needed to treat all of the follicles and significantly reduce unwanted hair. Laser treatments can effectively remove hair on the face, arms, back, underarms, legs, chest, and bikini area without harming the surrounding skin.
What to Expect During Laser Hair Removal
*The size of the treatment area and the patient’s hair type will determine exactly how many sessions will be needed to achieve significant hair reduction. What type of laser will be used for laser hair removal?
We use only the latest technology from Cynosure® systems, which are approved for use on all skin types. This allows us to treat more types of people. We can also control the pulse width and fluence to effectively treat a range of hair thicknesses, including difficult-to-treat finer hairs.
Is Laser Hair Removal painful?
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different but most patients compare the feeling of this treatment to the rubber band snapping sensation. Some patients even say it tickles. At Yana Skin Care, we use different cooling method to keep the skin temperature cool, calm and less sensation. Certain areas are more sensitive than others. The discomfort experienced during the treatment is tolerable and patients say the results are worth it.

Will it work on blonde, red or grey hair?
No, Laser Hair Removal does not work well on people that have red, white, gray or blonde hair. Darker and thicker hair gives better results. Fine and light hair may need more treatments. Very fine or light “peach fuzz” hair will not be affected. Also patients who have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) may experience poor results unless they are receiving medical support along with their laser treatment.
Are there any side effects to laser hair removal?
With our top of the line laser machine – Cynosure Elite MPx and our well experience technician, you will not experience any damage to your skin however sometimes you can expect the skin to be slightly red in the treated area for a very short time similar to a mild sunburn. Most patients can get treated during lunch hour and there will be no visible signs of a treatment when they return back to work.
Are laser hair removal treatments covered under Insurance?
Most of the insurance policies do not cover cosmetic procedures. Check with your specific insurance carrier for details
Should I shave before the treatment?
Yes, shave the day before or the day of the treatment. Also, waxing, threading, tweezer or any other method that removes the hair follicle including the root must be discontinued 3 weeks before the treatment and during the treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
At Yana Skin Care, we recommend 6 treatments to provide hair reduction. Within 6 treatments 90 percent or higher results will be achieved. Some areas give better results than the others. Results may vary of course from person to person based on gender, age, hair color, punctuality with appointments etc.

Does Laser help with ingrown hair? can laser remove ingrown hair?
Yes, You will notice that most of your ingrowns are terminated. Within couple of treatments, the area will be smooth and the skin will return back to the original color of your skin.

Yes, absolutely! Most dark skin types, especially African Americans believe they cannot get laser treatment. This was true 5 years ago but not anymore.
