When it comes to laser hair removal you must remember that there are certain protocols and precautions that will safe guide your treatments and well being. One the most frequently asked questions me and my team are asked on a daily basis at Skin Perfection, London’s award winning skin and laser hair removal clinic; is whether you can do laser hair removal with fake tan on? The answer is simply no. You should absolutely have no tanning products applied to your skin when doing laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal with a fake tan
If you’re using tanning products and this includes spray tan, tans that aren’t instants, wash offs, body foundations and bronzers you should ensure that you don’t apply these for at least 14 days before your next laser hair removal treatment. The tan must be completely removed by the day of your procedure as anotherwise safe treatment of laser hair removal may results in a serious adverse reaction or even burns to your skin.
Can you wear fake tan in between laser hair removal treatments?
Yes, you can, as long as you wait 2 week after having laser hair removal and allow a further 2 weeks before your session for the product to completely come off.
If you suffer from dry skin and your tan usually takes longer to fade, for your safety, I advise to wait longer than 2 weeks before resuming your laser treatments.
Tips on how to ensure your fake tan is completely removed
- Soak your skin in a hot bath before exfoliating
- Use an exfoliating scrubs and tan eraser sponge
- Focus on dry areas of your skin where tan settles more ( such as elbow, knees)
- Dont forget to use moisturise after exfoliating to prevent your skin getting dry
