Now that summer is upon us, I thought it would be a great idea to share with you my at-home hair removal routine using the Panasonic ES-EL7A-P epilator (one of the best epilators in the market!).

Choosing the right epilator can be a challenging task since there are so many options, and there are a few things that we should be aware of before purchasing one.

It literally took me a few months to decide on one!

So, if you are considering buying an epilator or if you are curious about how they work, this is the post for you!

I’ll explain how it works, and an in-depth Panasonic epilator review. That way I can help you to make the right decision.

As always, if you have any questions about epilating and this product, don’t hesitate to ask me in the comments.

Panasonic ES-EL7A-P Epilator Review

There are three things that stand out in the description of this Panasonic epilator. It has a flexibile head (which is not common in epilators), you can use it in the shower, and it works for every area in your body (including the bikini line).

The main reason why I went for this product instead of the most popular Braun epilator (for example), is that this epilator has 60 tweezers. While others that are similar don’t have more than 45 tweezers. In that regard, the best epilator in the market.

My sister has a Siegen epilator with 36 tweezers, and it works pretty well. So while 36 is not a lot, it still gets the work done. You just have to pass the epilator over the same area a couple of times to see the desire effect.

In my opinion; the more tweezers it has, the better. Why? Because it will grab more hair (even if they are short or thin).

Something to have in mind about this cordless epilator is that you have to make sure to charge it after every use. It doesn’t work while charging.

Another reason why I chose this product instead of the competitor, were the Amazon reviews. I noticed that most of the negative reviews on this epilator where about how much it hurt (I’ll be talking about this too), and not about the product itself. While the other epilators have more technical issues.

Those reviews also mention something about the epilator grabbing your skin, but is something that has never happened to me.

Pros Of The Panasonic ES-EL7A-P Epilator

  • I have used it in pretty much every area of my body, and it works well. Even though you can use it on the bikini area, I wouldn’t go further (and by that I mean Brazilian).
  • It does get short and fine hair. Not always in the first time, but it does the job.
  • The battery lasts enough to do both legs and you won’t run out of battery. So I never worry about the battery factor. It also charges super fast (full battery in an hour).
  • It has a LED light that can show you thin and short hairs you might miss.
  • It even grabs some ingrown hairs that aren’t too inside the skin.
  • The main epilator attachment is bigger than other brands so it covers a bigger surface when epilating.

Cons Of The Panasonic ES-EL7A-P Epilator

  • No suitable for face. So I would recommend a different product (with a smaller head) for facial hair.
  • The cap of the epilator sometimes falls if you apply too much pressure or when using on different angles (armpits).
  • Doesn’t work well on sweaty/sticky skin.
  • The flexible epilator head can be a little hard to use. Especially at the beginning.
  • Even though it has 60 tweezers, I don’t see a big difference from others with less than 45 tweezers. Sometimes it doesn’t even get long hair.

To avoid that, I pull my skin so it feels tight. Just like you can se in the photo below.

Something else that I didn’t like (that is not exactly a con), was the storage pouch the epilator comes with.

For a product that is $80, I expecting something with a better quality. It’s a simple dust bag that doesn’t even closes; so mostly every time I use it, I drop some of the attachments.

Do I Recommend The Panasonic ES-EL7A-P Epilator?

While it’s a great epilator, I would still like to try the Braun Epilator Silk-épil 9 9-890.

I would like to compare them first, then see which one does a better job, and which one has better features.

In general, I do recommend it. I can’t deny that it’s one of the best epilators in the market, but I wouldn’t purchase it again (for now).

Not because I didn’t like it, it just didn’t blew me away; and to be honest, I was expecting more from this epilator.

Like I said, I would also like to try the Braun Silk-épil first before recommend it 100%, and see if it does a better job for sensitive areas, like the bikini line and armpits.

Epilating Hair Removal Most Common Questions

Does Epilating Hurt

Yes. It does hurt. Especially if you have thick hair.

In my case, before trying epilating, I did laser hair removal on many areas of my body. So I don’t have a lot of hair, and it’s very thin. Because of that, it doesn’t hurt a lot.

RELATED: Laser Hair Removal: Common Questions, Answered

There are areas that hurt more, like around the ankles. It also will depend on your pain tolerance.

I think it hurts a little more than waxing, but it’s a better hair removal option to do at home.

Is It Better Than Shaving?

In my opinion, yes. Epilating is better than shaving. Why? Because it gets the hair from the root. Like waxing, but without the messy and hot wax.

In general, epilating is a great way to get rid of unwanted hair at home. It’s practical and easy to use. And there’s no risk of cutting yourself like with shaving.

Definitely one of my favorite hair removal products.

What Are The Benefits Of Epilating?

The hair grow slower and finer since the epilator pulls the hair from the root.

Is It Good For Sensitive Skin?

I have sensitive skin, and it works well! In a way, you aren’t using hot wax, and if you shave the blade can irritate your skin. So it might be a good option for you.

If you haven’t try epilating before, I would definitely recommend getting a cheaper one (like this one). That way you can get an idea of how epilators work.

They are super loud as well, and it can be overwhelming and scary for beginners.

My At-Home Hair Removal Routine

My hair routineI

  1. After taking a shower, I avoid putting body lotion before epilating. In my opinion, the epilator works better on dry skin after your shower.
  2. Then, I go somewhere with good light to be able to see every hair. Definitely an important factor for this hair removal option.
  3. To get best results while epilating, I recommend holding your skin so it’s tight. That helps the tweezers to get the hair. That helps to get even the shortest hairs.
  4. When I finish, I apply my body lotion to moisturize the skin.
  5. Then, I clean up using the brush that comes with the epilator the couple of hairs that might be inside the epilator’s head.
  6. Once that’s done I make sure to charge it; so next times I need it, it’s ready to use.

That’s it! The process is super simple and I would say fast enough. It will all depend on your pain tolerance, and how fast you can go through the areas.

Another tip! If you have some ingrown hairs, use your tweezers to pull them out.

Like I mentioned, it’s a good hair removal option for those with sensitive skin like me, so don’t worry if your skin reacts showing little red spots. That’s very normal and common.

Also, something to have in mind; if the hair is too long, the tweezers from the epilator might break the hair, instead of pulling it from the root.

Final Thoughts

While epilating is, in my opinion, the best way to remove unwanted hair at home. Waxing and laser are still my top ways to do it.

So if you have the budget to go to the salon to get waxed or to get laser. Then I 100% recommend that decision.

Epilating is also a good method for hair removal when you are traveling. They are small and easy to pack.

If you haven’t tried this hair removal method, then I definitely recommend it. Maybe purchase a cheap one with your sister sister, or mom!

Now tell me, what’s your favorite at-home hair removal product? Do you prefer shaving or waxing? Let me know in the comments!

Also, if you have any questions, you can ask them in the comments.
