hi, my name is kēr and i'm a trans woman who takes absolute pride in being at home building relationships with my Indigenous siblings on Treaty 4 Territory. i'm involved in community building, development and organising and can be found working on matters — gender, race, sexuality and social justice, more recently being involved in organising protests, rallies and vigils for Black lives in my city of Regina. i'd like to request your assistance in my gender and life journey to access treatment and navigate legalities i am currently financially locked out of.
i was born in another country that isn't trans friendly which means i can't change my name or gender markers in turn inhibiting my ability to get Canadian documentation, i basically function on people believing me (yes even when boarding flights... locally not international) so i need financial help to be able to solve this problem which involves jumping some fairly expensive Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship hoops to make all my birth name and gender documents Canadian followed by navigating eHealth Saskatchewan to change my now legal "old" documents to who i am now then i can get simple day-to-day documentation like say a driver's licence.
in Saskatchewan hair removal isn't covered so one has to pay the cost prohibitive fees for laser hair removal or electrolysis, it currently takes me over 2hrs any time i wanna leave my apartment to shave and put on makeup so that i'm not clocked when outside thus attacked, this is an issue of my daily safety and it doesn't help that gender dysphoria chips at me every moment. the other day i was at the beach with friends and all my girlfriends were swimming and having a time whilst i sat on the side watching, i haven't swam for years for fear of my life (because i don't look like a "woman" in bathing suit and your help might help me here in accessing gender affirming procedures not covered by the health system), i guess i wanna be able to swim maybe even take a walk without thinking yup someone who hates trans women will clock me and kill me. i would like to be a little bit at ease in public and getting there is expensive in a manner i not only cannot currently afford, it is unlikely i will anytime soon on my own.
